Awesome! Looks like exactly what I was talking about. Now to decide on the belt...

Thanks a lot.

Thanks, I've considered that and will probably end up doing it. I actually just took my two pistol tacos off of the rifle tacos on my PC because they stuck out so far, but being more to the side on the belt I don't think they'd make a big difference. My main reason for doing it on the belt would be for easier access to my bottle carrier. I'd also like a lower-profile FAK, but I haven't gotten around to it.

My gear still needs a lot of work. I think I'm going to start competing again this year though so that should help.

I just got this put together today. Was waiting on G code to get me that duty drop. Can't wait to run it.

I think a black multicam would be pretty awesome

Same.  As a smaller guy, I wouldn't be opposed to going to something slimmer for my kit - the 3" HSGI belt isn't a problem, but if I can create some more space between my carrier and my belt that would be fine by me.  I can't seem to clear up what I'd need from Volund for this to work though.  It reads as if the Micro Battlebelt can be a standalone product, but can also attach on top of a liner belt if you have one mates with it.  I suppose the ultimate question would be, why would I want to do that?

You could just use belt keepers, but the Velcro attachment it's much more stable. The liner belt loops through your pants like a normal belt so when you attach the duty belt, its not like a normal war/battle belt that can shift or sag. The theory is its held up and close to your body almost like its as if all your gear its on your pants belt.

All you'd need is the g hook liner belt with either hook or loop Velcro lining and then the micro battle belt with the opposite/mating liner.
Make sure you choose the micro battle belt and not the duty belt.
If you shoot them an email with your waist measurement over your pants and then one over your belt specifying if its a thick/large buckle and then one over your belt without the buckle they will tell you what sizes you will need

I decided to go a different route with this latest build.  I was hoping for a a stripped down version of a battle belt, and while I love my HSGI battle belt, its bulk and heaviness makes it difficult to conceal.  This is a volund tactical micro battle belt which features a hook inner lining, which secures to my volund tactical inner belt (loop).  Very secure and the load is kept very close to the body. So far I have been very pleased with the platform.

I have my ar mags right after two pistol mags, I find I have to turn my torso a bit to insert a mag into the second (last)pouch.   Mainly because my arm can't go back that far . I've watched videos and others sort of turn a bit. Maybe I'm just nitpicking.

I was all intrigued by the Micro, but what advantage would it hold over my. DSG competition belt?
Both have a velcro liner, same buckle. What am I missing?

The volund micro battle belt is specifically designed to run molle pouches.  It has 2 X 1/2" molle webbing pieces that sandwich an inner 1" void.  I think this is a much better design as it will keep the molle pouches more secure and higher than some of the new mini battle belts that are coming out (HSGI's mini battle belt has 2 rows of molle etc, so each pouch would only get one molle row of attachment on the belt compared to two).  Also as an added feature it has vertical webbing pieces which allow you to run your pouches or equipment horizontally if you wish.

Finally the cobra buckle is the 1" variety so it wont stick out and jab your guts as some of the larger buckles do when you sit down.  Ultimately a belt is a belt, but the above reasons were enough for me to try one.

Aaaaand done transferring. Sorry for the crappy pic.

HSGI belt on top (now for sale), lower profile rigger's belt on the bottom. I didn't have to buy belt adapters for anything, but I can see where they'd be useful.

I really want to get a lower-profile FAK, that one is pretty bulky but I like it. I wouldn't say I NEED the dump pouch, but I can see it being useful in some situations... it might disappear though. No knife yet, but I have a multitool and a flashlight.

I did as suggested and mounted my pistol TACOs onto the rifle tacos, which was pretty much a necessity anyway since I lost some belt real estate. I'm not sure how I like it as they stick out pretty far, but it's not too bad. Only other pouch is the skeletonized water bottle carrier. Super lightweight and seems to work well.

Honestly I might replace the dump pouch with a simple pouch for snivel gear, so I can have similar stuff on it and my PC.

Also have a new inner belt and the new liner coming from HSGI. I think this will be a better setup for me.

So, with $5 worth of Malice Clips, my DSG is essentially the same as the Micro.

If you are asking whether you can hang stuff of your DSG belt in the same manner as the micro with malice clips; the answer is yes.

I think there are other features that make the micro battle belt appealing and functional.  Would it make sense to invest in the micro if you already have a belt you like and practice with?  You need to answer that for yourself.

The only problem(s) or potential problem(s) I see with this is 1, the malice clips aren't laterally secured so theoretically they have the potential to slide and shift along he belt and 2, unless you exclusively use malice clips, any other form of attachment is going to probably be bulky and/ or jab you in the sides.

Yup.

I wouldnt be gaining much.  Maybe a little more rigid setup, but not enough to warrant the cost.

This was a proof of concept if you will, and while there is a little bulkiness inherent to all belt setups the short width of the belt and the hook and loop holds the load very close to the body.  I think I could have gone with a slimmer magazine pouch, but i needed the versatility if i decide to run an AK.

Oh, ok. I was under the impression it was just an outer belt. I had no idea there was an inner as well. I take it you sandwich the malice clips between the outer and inner then

Nalgene yes. I've tried 16oz water bottles, and while they're a little small I think you could adjust the top strap to hold them pretty well so a 20oz shouldn't be a problem. I have mine set up for Klean Kanteen bottles, which work great.

Volund

You can also try TYR
The TYR is what I have but if I was doing it now I'd probably go with the Volund. It's less expensive and I have no real need for the bigger cobra buckle and anchor point.
TYR has those features and comes with pads if that's important to you.

*edit: On second look, maybe it's not less expensive. Those options add up.

Didn't HSGI just announce a few new models of the SGPB? Like a mini and a micro or something like that?

Loving these new belt mounted tacos
I was (and still may) going to go with a voulond micro belt but I think this eagle may do the trick, now I just need a fancy kydex holster and I'm set
Does anyone know of a micro med pouch? I'm looking for something small for the new belt, maybe just a tourniquet and bandage or something.

I haven't had a chance to check it out personally but the Raven Tactical pieces looked reasonable.  IIRC BFG also previewed a micro kit at SHOT this year.

Who here runs pistol mags on the right side?

I just setup my belt so I may have it all wrong, but I run my two rifle mags on the left side as far forward as possible/ (two single tacos)

then two single pistol tacos as far forward on right side.

I tried two pistol tacos on left as far forward as possible, then immediately behind those the 2 rifle tacos, but it just doesn't seem right.

I already have a hard enough time reaching back with my left hand to access my dump pouch and its at like the 7-8 o'clock position.

I am right handed, anyone run a setup like this?

I did it for a while when I was in a unit that required identical lbvs for everyone. Pistol mag was on the right side for some reason. It was doable, but seemed silly to protect your armor with your arm while doubling easily your reload time. For almost 4 years I've had a two pistol mags on my left side with a double 20 round m4 mag pouch. I liked it so much that when I got out I just kept using it for three gun.

Still working on trying to get some type of pistol holster.

Again, i've NEVER worn/used any sort of belt, so it may or may not work for me when I do get to use it.

Suppressor pouch is just random on the back for now.
