I want to trade the chinese web sling on my 1942 garand with a US made leather m1907. At the front sells new ones for $144. Apex has some surplus *good* graded ww1 dated sling with the keepers for $130. Any one ever restored a sling? The sling in the picture in the ad is in pretty good condition doubtful every one they ship is like that. I personally think I'd rather have a "original" older sling that shows some where than a brand new one. My rifle doesn't look brand new either. I have zero experience conditioning or restoring leather but I'm willing to learn. What would you guys do? Any where else to get a good US made m1907? |

You could also ask this in the Competition section of the website and/or any other forum related to NRA High Power competition as they are still regularly used for such purposes. I guess I should ask is Leather a specific term or generic for your purposes. The current sling I have on my competition service rifle is Biothane and not leather but I'm not going for any authenticity in my use case. I use the sling on the AR pictured with the Garand pictured below when shooting Garand Matches.

I use Fields 1907 slings for high power. I buy them from Dave Fields in person when he comes to local matches. Creedmoor sells them. After hard use in high power they get retired to my 1903’s and M1 rifles. They are too worn for heavy use but will last years with occasion use. |

Charlies Militaria (think they are in Oklahoma) had some nice leather ones. It has been a while, but I used to see their adds in Shotgun News ... back in the day ...  NM MRT Leather sling - Link Bigger_Hammer
