Do you need a wrench for this? Does anyone make one?

Need to file/grind a slight radius on the corners of the hook to not marr radiused corners in the mount cuts.  This will work with lots of other mounts as well:

The Nomad also comes with the needed wrenches.  They're 1.5" hook spanners.

These might come in handy as well. I haven’t used these but am considering purchasing. I have two sdn6s converted to keymo and some dead air cans in jail.

That's an interesting material choice.  UHMWPE is really slick stuff, I've used it as a bearing surface for many things that need to slide.   I would expect cans to spin pretty easily in those.  But I haven't tried them, so have to reserve judgement.

I pretty routinely remove parts that are not ever meant to come out, such as booster housings or end caps on sealed cans that are cranked in hard and held by anaerobic thread locking compounds.  I wrap them with painter's tape and stick them in the big 4 jaw.  I realize most don't have the luxury of a 13" 4 jaw chuck at their disposal, but the painter's tape and a couple soft pine blocks in your vise should do just fine for stubborn mounts & end caps.  The tape not only protects the can, but the adhesive helps prevent slippage.
