Trying to untangle the web of possibilities for mounting a YHM Sidewinder M2 45 Cal suppressor on a KRISS USA Vector SDP-E G2 45ACP 6.5 pistol.

What I do know.

Thread pitch on the KV barrel is M16x1 LH
KV recommend using a direct-thread suppressor that is indexed against the muzzle, not the shoulder.
Thread pitch ID of the sidewinder is 1.180-24 UNS-3A threads

Can’t find anyone that makes a direct thread adapter that is indexed against the muzzle that threads into the sidewinder.

YHM makes a M16x2 LH Sidewinder piston but didn’t respond when I asked if it indexed against the shoulder or muzzle. YHM never directly answered me when I asked what solution would work mounting the Sidewinder on a KV, there response was we offer these direct mounts and a link to Sidewinder direct mounts. They also said they don’t make a piston spacer, something that KV said should be used if using a piston mount.

Has anyone here has success mounting a Sidewinder M2 on a KV? If do what was your mounting solution.

I did message back and forth with Nick at ECCO machine, he was very responsive but was clear he doesn’t make anything for the Sidewinder.

I’ve done lot’s of searches and can’t find anyone who posted of this combo. Don’t believe I’m the first to try this. Thanks for an assistance. Starting to feel I should have waited for the R45 to be instock or gone with another suppressor that has been proven to fit on the KV.

Anyone know of or make for themselves a fixed barrel spacer for a YHM Sidewinder M2 - 45 CAL?

Read in Leslie Nielson's voice:

I'd use a M16x1 LH 3-LUG MUZZLE DEVICE and a HD 3-Lug HUB Adapter - YHM-2050

I'm looking at the same can for my GHM45 and .22 upper and had the parts bookmarked for payday.

If only it was that easy. The 3-Lug adapter is a HUB  1 3/8-24” thread mount, the Sidewinder has a 1.180-24 thread mount. Only thing I have found that is close is the 1.180-24 Gemtech/Liberty/B-Tube Direct Thread Mounts from ECCO Machine, but it's not muzzle registering like Kriss Vector calls for. Not sure if using a shoulder registering mount is good to go.  I have a YHM M16X1 LH Piston in the mail, don't know if it's muzzle or shoulder registering. Once I get it in I'm taking everything to a local gun smith to mount and make a piston spacer. Don't know if I'm over thinking this but I want a clean, safe solution. Going to Form 1 the Kriss Vector and the can will live on it. Want it done right.

Think I've got my final answer.

Multiple emails with YHM, Kriss USA, Hughes Precision and Nick at ECCO Machine and I believe I now know what will work and what won't.

I'll start off by saying if you intend to suppress a Kriss Vector in 45 ACP I do not recommend the YHM Sidewinder M2 45 ACP. I say this because of the thread pitch on the Sidewinder is 1.180-24 UNS-3A threads which limits your mounting options.  Also, the Kriss Vector is muzzle registering and most mounts are shoulder registering, this again limits your options. I'd go with a suppressor with a HUB compatible 1 3/8-24” thread mount, this greatly increases your mounting options. I didn't know this when I ordered my Sidewinder and I couldn't find anyone talking about this when I did my research.

I couldn't find any 3 lug compatible mounts in 1.180-24 UNS-3A, would welcome someone pointing me to one that is in current production and available.

YHM did answer my questions, for the most part, they stated a piston mount is for pistols and didn't address my request for the correct sized fixed piston spacer for use on a PCC like the Kriss Vector.
YHM recommended a Hughe Precision thread adapter to use on a YHM direct thread adapter. I'm not happy stacking adapters to make his work but without a M16X1 LH muzzle registering direct thread adapter in 1.180-24 UNS-3A this is the best I feel I'm going to be able to do.

Maybe I'm overthinking this, if so let me know your thoughts.

Once all the parts arrive, I'll update this post with links to parts used, how it mounts up and maybe a range report.

Dealing with a few vaguely similar issues right now but one thing I will say from having 9mm and 45 Sidewinders along with an R9 is that the Sidewinder is worth it from a weight reduction perspective.  The R45 looks like it’s even chunkier than the R9.

The one issue I have is with a Browning HP barrel, basically no shoulder to index off of but it’s really unclear if the threaded length of the barrel is sufficient for the muzzle to index in the front of the piston.  It appears that my solution might just be to grind down the rear of the piston slightly which will guarantee the muzzle will index in the piston.

For my other purposes the Ecco B tube direct thread mount will work perfectly though I see where it doesn’t really help you with a muzzle index as it’s threaded through.

If I were you and wanted a really slick solution here is the way I would go… get yourself a YHM-4445 SRX short Q.D. Flash Hider, it’s meant for .45.  Then measure the depth just for kicks, maybe your muzzle threads are sufficiently long for it to index off the muzzle.  If not then I would carefully grind a little off the rear of the device so it will.  Then get yourself a Ecco machine 1.180-24 to 1.375-24 Gemtech/Liberty/B-tube Bravo Adapter which will allow you to fit up a YHM-4400 SRX quick disconnect.

With all that you should have a nice clean quick disconnect with a muzzle index.  It’s bringing in a couple different adaptors but it’s also removing the Nielsen device so really a net neutral from a stacking perspective.

@Boregonian thanks for your reply.

YHM-4445 SRX short Q.D. Flash Hider is not avalable in M16X1 LH threads, which means I would have to use a thread adapter. Since I'm already going to use one with a direct thread adapter it's doesn't really save me anything other than quick attach/detach.

I failed to mention what I intend to use to make this work for me. .

Ordered a Hughes Precision M16X1 LH to .578" -28 TPI thread converter and a Sidewinder Direct Thread Adapters - YHM-3254 in 578" x 28 TPI. Also ordered all this in 5/8″-24 TPI because I jumped the gun, so I will have a thread adapter and direct mount that I could use but will most likely have sitting in a drawer or post on eBay at a loss. Was thnking of using this can on my PSA JAKL 300 Blackout Pistol with subs, and using the 5/8"-24 TPI adapter/direct thread adapter would work on both guns, but I'm not sure I want that now.

Overall using the HP adapter and YHM direct thread mount won't add much length and be stable/reliable.
