Currently I have a large AMSEC BF safe that I paid like $2500 and now it's over $5k to replace. I have a cheaper same club safe for the crap I don't really care about but don't want meth heads to get into. It's so thin of metal a magnetic dial light will not stay on  Any companies that do moves around 700 miles? how good are those snap safes? Will a magnet stick? We are moving really rural and are going to be at the end of a private drive with a few other neighbors. It will have the typical gate, cameras, and such. Low crime area. Part of me is like just get a snap safe and move it myself and nobody will know. And put in a very discreet location. I plan on downsizing my collection too. Nothing really important except NFA stuff. wanted a vault room but not happening due to us retiring early and simplifying our lives. I do want some fire protection though for documents though Worth it to move my amsec or for about the cost of moving it get a snap safe with fire protection? I'm guessing moving it will not be cheap |

I bought a Security Products safe in 1986 and had it delivered to Florida. Shipping from Texas was around $150 iirc. When I was getting ready to move to Texas, the movers quoted me about $2000 due to it's weight. About what I paid for the safe. Sold it to a friend and bought a new one when I got to Texas. Came out better off that way for me. YMMV. Get the best safe you can afford, especially since you are likely not going to have a rapid LEO response time if you're going to be in a more rural area. |

I'm guessing moving it will not be cheap lol, only 700 miles? check with your local safe dealers and get a quote to load it in the back of a uhaul or penske, and call ahead to your new location and get a quote to unload and deliver it. It'll be much less than the cost of the safe. |
| We did similar and live rurally on 40 acres...low crime area. I vote for the take down safe option. I have a Zanotti Armor safe here and it is very good. At our last house I had a vault room with a Snap Safe vault door and was very pleased with that. The Snap Safe products have decent steel in them, much better than the big box safes. I am a bit leary on electronic locks but the one on my snap safe door never gave me trouble. |

heck I moved my browning from Alaska to Maine. Replacing it would have been 1200 bucks, I simply threw it into my trailer, laid flat, and drilled 2 holes the back through the deck of trailer, then threw 5/8th inch bolts through the holes and then crawled under the trailer and bolted it into place. the trailer didn't bounce around at all. LOL. |

| I’d take it. I agree with the guy that said have someone come get it out for you and you haul it. Then find the right people near your new location to help you get it installed. Be different if it was a sub $2000 to replace safe. But 5 grand?!!! Take it man. |
