As the RDIAS and Lighting Link are considered "M16s", for quicker and possibly more thorough responses, you should consider asking in the M16 Forum.

Best of luck.

MHO, YMMV, etc.

Lolz.  OP getting the runaround.

The quick and dirty answer is a lightening link is something you can install it a commonly available semiauto AR and it turns into full-auto.  The gun only work in safe and full auto, there is no longer a semiauto.  A DIAS is something you can install, along with the full auto trigger components, to give an AR all 3 safe/semi/auto options.

Those 3D printed things, as well as the bent coat hanger designs are just variations of a lightening link.
The DIAS is more versatile, since it lets you have 3 settings instead of 2.  If I was spending my money on one, thats what I'd go for.

QuarterBore used to have a breakdown but that site has been offline for several years:
I stored his RLL info and put on my site here: https://c3junkie.com/?page_id=1362

ETA:  I just deleted all my content as posted below.

This is correct, however with the additional of a modified 3rd burst kit, you can have safe, semi, and auto with a LL.

yes you can run all 3 with a rdias.

i would limit on keeping it in if you just hooting semi. it very easy to take out.

you lower need to have the right shelf in order to use a rdias. not all lowers will work.

you need a m-16 control group, skip the burst, a m-16 bolt any will work, and a proper lower.
