| So I've got two machineguns. One is a Reising M50 and the other is a Plainfield M2 Carbine. Curious if those folks on here who own either or both of these firearms could recommend which spare parts I should have on hand. I've had them both for over a decade and have never needed spare parts, but I'm approaching retirement and foresee having more time to get them out to the range. Thanks in advance. |

On the Reising, I’ve had a firing pin break. Not uncommon. Get a couple spares. I had the original 1-piece bumper break and switched to a 2-piece. I also had an extractor break once. All of this has been over the course of 20 years. Get a set of replacement springs. Wolff makes a full set. You will eventually blow off some of the compensator fins. You can get a thicker machined one that looks the same, externally. Other parts that I have not broken, but that would be good spares to have around are the action bar, ejector, and bolt. On these, I’d just take your time and keep an eye on gunbroker and eBay and sometimes you can find some less expensive parts. Or just go to Keystone Arms or Numrich and save time. They may be at or better than the auction sites for pricing. Just depends on timing. |

For the M2 carbine, spare bolt parts and a spare bolt or two just in case. Springs, extractors, ejectors - best to get USGI surplus while its around I can still find new or old stock in Wrap parts from the 50s. They won't be around forever. Since you have a registered receiver M2, get the full auto spares that can break like the trip bar, - had one that un-rivet apart. maybe some selector springs, whatever you can find buy a spare - better to have it and not need it than the other way around - parts are fairly common. |
