We shoot a discipline that has the NRA Competition Department as its sanctioning body. Many of our competitors are wondering what is going to happen to their sport with the NRA bankruptcy and the move to Texas. Many are speculating that the NRA will simply dissolve the competition division because it costs too much to keep it running. What are your thoughts? |

On a slightly related topic: Many states had "help" from the NRA in crafting their concealed handgun licensing laws. Of course, these generally require safety training delivered by a certified instructor. The qualified instructor certification bodies are usually very short, and mostly just boil down to NRA certified instructors. No NRA, no certified instructors when their current certifications expire (generally in two years, max). No instructors, no more concealed handgun licenses. We have tried several times to get the body that certifies LEO instructors to take on CHL instructors. They just don't have the budget (or the interest) There is zero chance that commie Kate would ever consider a change in the law in OR to fix this. The same problem exists in other states. |

| Bankruptcy is not the same as "going out of business forever". It's not even necessarily "going out of business". That would only occur if the NRA were filing Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, which they are not. |

IMO the NRA was very neglected by not moving their state of incorporation years ago (like 60-80 years ago). Even wonder why most corporations are in Delaware? Delaware is a very business friendly to incorporate in and offers a shit load of protections. Texas is pretty much now the same way. The other thing a NRA screwed up was starting Carryguard insurance. Which was a limited insurance policy that has to meet all the different state restrictions of insurance companies. The others offer legal services to gun owners were pre-paid legal service like Texas/US Lawshield and USCCA, and don’t have such tough restrictions as insurance companies. The NRA headquarters will still be in Fairfax VA. They will still offer range insurance, train instructors, and sanction matches. |
