Anybody here do tactical games? I’m kinda looking for some sort of fitness/shooting competition to get into. I’m curious what the vibe is like at tactical games. Pretty casual and chilled out? Or are people wound kinda tight there? It does strike me as being kinda pricey. Do you think the whole thing is a giant scam? If you’ve also done any of those sniper type of matches where you walk/run a giant course and shoot targets at stations along the way, I’d be interested to know how those compare. Especially in terms of what the general atmosphere is like. Are there any other competitions out there that I’m missing that involve some sort of fitness and shooting? I’d love to do biathlon (with bike, run, or ski) but there’s hardly any events. (Even though the biathlon vibe is kinda lame.) |

I’ve done several of the tactical games events. All have been super fun. No one has been tight. Everyone one normally likes to chat it up. I’ll be going again in September in NC. I do wish the price was lower but they run a good event so I think it all balances out. |

Tactical Games is good. Check out Mammoth, if you want a sniper event with a fitness component. Attached File |

I have not done a tactical games, but from what I understand it's basically CrossFit WODs with a shooting component. That may or may not be what you're looking for.. I have done a couple Proving Grounds matches now and they are more "scenario based" meaning stuff like "carry this heavy object up the hill then engage targets". They say it's 30% fitness and 70% shooting. That's more what I'm looking for (I'm not looking for competitive CrossFit again) so I enjoy them a lot. There are similar ones around that are 5k run and guns. Where are you located? Oh and the vibe is awesome. Everyone is super cool and very welcoming. Here's some video from my match yesterday. ![]() Proving Grounds 8 Aug 2026 |

I have done Tactical Games, Sawmill Showdowns, Run and Guns and Proving Grounds. Got first place in the Team Division in 2025 at TTG SC Regional. IMO the Proving Grounds events are not enough of a physical challenge. The shooting is on par with the TTG in terms of difficulty, but the physical aspect left a lot to be desired. Run and Guns are intense. I’m not a good runner, so I never scored high enough. But if you are a marathon kind of guy, that would be a great option. TTG is a great balance of shooting difficulty and measures of fitness/strength. I have competed solo and as a team, Team was definitely the most fun. Suffering through it with someone helps to push you mentally and physically. |

If you can do 3-5 miles you'll be fine. Practice running with weight. Plenty do a walk or jog/walk combo. "Scores" are combo run time and target scores. I'm a solid 50% guy, on the 3 I did. |
