You are wrong. Flat out and incredibly obviously wrong. You have now been educated, by myself, XCRMonger, and now the BATFE.

You may now keep quiet about things you clearly know nothing about.

LOL!!!Thanks for the heads up on not fulling being fully informed keep on doing what your doing......However, after reading the whole letter I still would not encourage somebody to practice this... Your letter is dated 2004, while thats great there have been other "policy changes and opinions that have been changed by ATF" it all depends on who is in charge under under what administration. This is one of those areas I would stay away from, and not encourage somebody to do with out the proper documents to back it up.   Could an ATF agent arrest someone tomorrow on a range and  unsuspecting person tomorrow and claim constructive intent and change the policy sure may or maybe not happen, many people may or may not know this, and this is an area that one simple part (Stock) can land you in a word of hurt, to the unknowing an excuse of well "Seiran" on the internet showed me I could do this based on a policy letter dated 2004. I"m sorry this does not hold up in court.

Whether right or wrong I will continue to legally register my SBR's and my Machine Guns, and Silencers,  not to practice this based on to many problems/ unknowns with it....

Well its time for me to go shoot...

Based on your post count time for you to spend more time on the net...

I'm pretty sure they weren't going to do much good even if they did pull the trigger.  As far as the red hull's do you have some magic software to enhance the image so you can see the lead residue from them? What if they were reloaded steel? while this is highly improbable that it was steel and was actually lead, you just don't know for sure. Are you for certain that the water was shot? Yea the updated letter link is dead. Otherwise I would have used that one as well. It's amazing what you can learn in the AR Pistol section of this site. All those BATFE letters. Nice AR Pistol pic thread too. Full of AR pistols with standard, non-pistol buffer tubes.
And never once did I say not to register SBR's, machine guns, or suppressors.
Lastly, I shoot almost every weekend and as many chances as I can get during the week. Attacking my post count? Really? Pathetic last grasp.

Even though a safety is a mechanically device that can fail......and every organization states keep your finger off the trigger until your sites are on the target....Your right its perfectly acceptable to violate the rules.......

Your right, if the gun is unloaded and the bolt is to the rear its perfectly acceptable to violate the safety rules.

About the hulls and the shooting ..those are winchester hulls with a silver base most likely universals from Wally World. You don't reload those and there all lead.... Also one of there pics showed her Shooting at a Target thats in the H20....  My point was not to get to anybody in trouble it was to educate folks on bad behavior, or what not to do.  If you want to go around and show pics of you possible breaking the law then go for it. Thats between and LE.  I was simple pointing out that this behavior can land you in hot water. The question then becomes, Can you afford the RIDE?  Whether you maybe right can you still afford the Ride?  Am I for certain the water was shot, no! Do I care? No! Do I care to know if that individual had a spare stock in his bag? No! Should people that don't know any better be informed YES!!!!

Instead of spending so much time justifying inappropriate behavior/possible illegal behavior maybe you should spend more time showing folks the right way! If you your self don't know any better then go out and learn.

But in all Seriousness....

Serian I'm sorry didn't mean the personal attacks about the range thing....Sometimes things get heated and things are said....So for that comment I do apologize...

But for the rest of you and the comments....

I don't feel as though I started the "Attacks" The point of this was to simple point out some things that are probably not a "Good idea!"  If you disagree with my opinion thats fine. I did not post this simple because this is the "Women's Forum" I would have posted this in any forum that had gross safety violations.

If you think that having your finger on the trigger when your not shooting is a good Idea... I would caution you on this.

If you think shooting into a water source is a good idea then you maybe need to research the "Clean Water Act".

If your think that having barrel shorter than 16 inch s with a standard buffer is a good idea....make sure you don't have the stock....thanks for the heads up Serian.....

If you think i'm here trolling your dead wrong!

On this one I think I'm in the same camp as rob99vm04. It doesn't make a difference if the lower is registered as a pistol, rifle, or whatever. The key is that the carbine buffer allows easy modification into a SBR no matter what the lower is registered as.

Notice what the letter from the ATF says:

With respect to buffer tubes, the use of either buffer tube you describe is permissible. However, possessing a rifle buttstock that could readily be installed on your pistol could constitute possession if a short barreled rifle.

The implication is clear - if there's a buttstock in the vicinity, it would constitute possession of an SBR. It's the same thing as buying a SBR upper - you could do it, but you better not own a lower that's set up as a rifle or you could be hit with constructive intent. It's certainly not a boundary *I* would be willing to push if there were an overzealous ATF agent around.

i probably wouldn't either, never really saw the appeal of an AR pistol to begin with, personally.  i do wonder if you could JB weld the adjustment section or otherwise make it incapable of using a stock?

I am curios as to if or why a major manufacturer such as colt, DD, LWRC, Rock, Double Star, Bravo, Stag, etc...do not produce this  if somebody has a link to a production gun that fits these specs I would interested in seems like it would cheaper than having to manufacturer an entirely new pistol buffer tube anyway this is my last post in this thread about this.  I have actually been looking at getting an AR pistol.

If you think I'm shitting in a thread that's not the intention....

Bullshit.

You can't tell anything from the shot of the woman holstering, least of of all that the gun is even loaded. I've seen pictures where it appeared rifles were pointed at people's heads, when they weren't  even close.

In at least one of the shots with the finger on the trigger, the gun appears to be pointed downrange. You know..where people shoot.

In the river picture, the gun was pointed at a fucking fish. Seriously, you think she was shooting fish in a river? Seriously? And there is zero indication that even IF the shotgun shells are from lead rounds that the person in the pic had ANYTHING had anything to do with it., and yet you're spouting off about legal issues.

And then your sanctamonius and yet oh, so incorrect legal advice on SBRs and AR pistols.

You went through 16 pages of pictures to find some you could claim were doing something incorrectly and found, what? Maybe one legitimately iffy photo, and you're not a troll? Dude, you've been owned and your best bet is to just go away and don't dig yourself in deeper.

Its late and I don't have time to edit out all the stupid at the moment, but if you have anything other than apology to post, then don't. I have a small daiy allotment of patience and you've used it up.

And look, I had a gun pointed at my friends foot! The horror!

Not only, that, but I was obviously overdressed! Glad you can't see the sandals I was shooting in.

LOL, RIGHTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!  Unfortunately your opinion doesn't matter, and you being ignorant of the law is no excuse either!!! Putting a bufffer tube that accepts a stock on a barrel shorter than 16 inch could be a case for "Constructive intent to Assemble"  use your googlefu look it up im pretty sure it's a felony. The ATF does not consider this a Pistol. Its considered a SBR short Barreled Rifle. Don't take my word for it look it up your clearly online a lot more than I.

not if the lower was sold as a pistol on the 4473.

I have actually been looking at getting an AR pistol.

googling "receiver extension pistol" shows RRA, Ace, and Olympic offering extensions without the section the stock adjustment mates to.  I'm sure there are others out there as well.

Barbara,  I'm not attacking you personally.  If you think I am for that I am sorry..
However, I do take guns very seriously.  While many think they are our are experts or aremore superiorly trained than I, I hope that one day these folks won't expience that complacency kills.  I have had to many friends I know get rapped up in complacency and end up hurting themselves or others.  If you hate me fine or dislike me for calling  things out fine. If this thread sticks in the back of one persons head and prevents a tragedy than I have accomplished my goal.  If somebody decides not to use a body of water that a "duck can land into" as target practice to not get busted by the EPA than I have accomplished my goal.  If somebody chooses to be extra cautious about assembling what some may consider a questionable class 3 mission accomplished.  I have known people that have been visited by ATF agents on things that are much dumber in the eyes of the informed.  Like my one friend who received a visit from the ATF for ordering a F/A BCG.  The agents tried to bully him to show them his entire collection.  Even though it was a total fishing expedition, some might give in to fear and let them see everything.  Not saying you nor I have anything to hide but to an over zealous LEO this could cause financial and legal problems.  Sometimes it's better to just fly under the radar.

If I have offended anybody Im sorry.  I did not see any rules about giving personal opinion or pointing out safety or legal issues in  in this thread if there is rules against it please let me know and I will refrain from doing so in the future,

I'm sorry to drag this out, but when did this happen?  Was this a story told over drinks?  Sounds more like (if it really happened) the "agents" were thiefs trying to gain intel on your friends collection.  Just sounds like BS.

I was with Snaps and SPJ towards the end of the day this past year...  had my Team Ranstad shirt on and everything...    maybe this year, I'll wear something more identifiable.   would be cool to meet more folks.  I'm a total wallpaper girl, though, so I'd need you to approach me...  maybe I'll put "donne3" on the back of my shirt or something...

You could do what I see people doing at gun shows: Get a tall pole with a sign on it that says "Donne3" on it in bold black sharpie letters and strap it to your back. That way people can see who you are from a ways off.
