And nobody is hitting my curve because it won't even reach the plate!

You're going to fit right in.

Just remember, up and in is the Pittsburgh Way. Don't want plunked? Don't crowd the plate.

I dare them to suspend me.

We're in the right field grandstands, so a foul ball isn't out of the question.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure if the Line Up card section for Pitchers was just

(Random Guy in the Stands)

we'd have a better chance at a win than we did tonight.

If anyone is curious, and even if they aren't, today is the 175th anniversary of the first recorded baseball game under Alexander Cartwright's rules. It was played at the Hoboken, NJ, Elysian Fields between the New York Base Ball Club and the New York Knickerbockers with Cartwright umping.

The Knickerbockers lost 23-1.

Our seats were on the next to highest level of the Upper Deck right side grandstands about even with First Base. That picture was on the ground level next to a beer seller.

Just getting to the ground level was a journey in itself that involved us in the bowels of PNC Park.

We were both standing at the rail/bar next to the beer vendor.

We got there from our nosebleed seats about the 5th inning and just stayed there sucking down suds. The drunk next to me said my hatred of Joe Buck was a level  of hatred he had never encountered before.

I brought my glove with the plan of catching a foul ball, giving it to some needy kids, and then having his single mom thank me by blowing me in a stairwell during the 7th inning stretch, but Operation Get Some was a failure.

Still, I remain convinced the theory is sound.

Plus I had absolutely no idea where the ball was except that it was incoming like a round of artillery. I lost it in the air.

I'll be damned if I can remember what the drunk said, but I spit a mouth full of beer all over myself laughing.

That's actually a solid plan. Let me add a little bit for you.

  • Bring a ball with you to the game

  • Scout out hot mom in your section

  • wait for foul ball to land behind the mom/out of her view

  • Bring fake ball to kid

  • Get thanked in the stairwell

Hope you had fun yesterday. I have to imagine you were insufferable having actually watched a Pirates win in person.

I didn't rub it in too much, mostly because I was shocked the Buccos managed to eke out a win.

Spent said he was more pissed that he didn't get the home run ball than he was the Indians lost to the Pirates.
