Might be getting a Stihl 170 that the current owner says doesn't run for $70. My brother in law is a motorcycle/ATV/small engine mechanic and told me that more often than not, it's the carburetor needs cleaned out and people don't know how it don't want to do it.
Going to be another project/learning experience. |

I normally have all of my wood cutting done by now, but I haven't even started yet. The stuff I cut split stack this year will be burnt two years from now at the earliest, it's just been too warm as of late. We're finally getting into some cooler weather so I'm looking forward to getting out and cutting. I actually have a couple of trees I already bucked up late winter that still need to be split, it's just hard to get to them as I have to cross a creek in the woods. Last two times I tired to get the tractor and wood trailer back there, I got stuck. LOL. |

Quoted: Yesterday, ordered a DeWalt 12" 20V XR chainsaw to work with the smaller stuff. Should be here for this weekend. Already read about the chain oil leaks, so I'm gonna get some orings to try to fit the plug. Want to try it out as a 12" saw first and how it does with the 5AH battery it comes with. Lots of people out there saying to swap the bar to a 14" bar, but I'm mainly going to be using it for smaller stuff and clean up purposes. Quoted: That environment looks like it would be tough on chains. View Quote Not really, it's the village lay down yard for tree lawn trees, asphalt grinding, leafs and concrete. These trees are all handled by crane, articulated grapple and dump truck. The only time they touch the ground is when they arrive. I like cutting here because it is free of mud and now, with a fork mounted splitter, (modified box store type), I can easily handle the big stuff. |

Is it just personal preference? I don’t think I’ve ever had a steel fuel / oil can for my saws so now I’m wondering if I’m missing something. I do like the dual can though. |
