Standard mil spec coating used on all AR's up until late.

Basically, just a fancy word for Parkerizing.

Used on steel parts for corrosion resistance - The aluminum parts are usually hard-anodized instead.

Well, needs a rear sight and you’re done.

Wish it came with anything other than the blade!

EE, used carry handle! Just finished this exact build $330 truck pistol

I ordered that kit last week.

Should be here Monday.

I already have an old chopped carry handle that's been in my parts bin for about 20 years. If you'd told me back then that some day I could build any AR for under $400 I wouldn't have believed it.

I got one of those kits with the Grey furniture when they first went $260 plus free shipping, the barrel on mine is shinny not a dull parked color. I think maybe they sent me a nitrited barrel.

Got a PSA $40 lower at the store waiting on me, I will pick it up next week and hopefully shoot it next weekend.

Edit - the description of the one I ordered did say phosphate coated barrel.

No, it means that this is an non-chromed, non-nitride treated bore. It is a bare steel bore.

This isn't the worst thing in the World. RRA barrels are unlined and many of those are holding up just fine after tens of thousands of rounds.

However, if you are asking yourself how PSA can offer this package so cheap, this is part of your answer.

I am sure this barrel will serve most people just fine. However, if you have your heart set on being "mil-spec" (chrome-lined) or having the wear resistance of Melonite/nitride treatment inside and out then this may not be the barrel you are looking for.

Ordered

It will end up just under the 26" line, so it can be registered as a pistol here in Michigan.  That's 2 kits from PSA in under a week.

PSA strikes again!

Yep, the two common parkerization processes are phosphating which is grey finish.  The other is with Manganese which is black.

Not yet but I was thinking of something like a screw with a knurled knob. For now I just keep the allen wrench in the Magpul K2 grip.

Dont know how other manufacturers stay in buisness with psa pricing?

Out of everyone i know that uses psa, have only seen one issue, and it was a trigger pin that kept backing out.

They shoot wolf, and tula with zero issue, unlike some other manufacturers.

Great product

So that short a barrel with a 1/7 twist would be worthless for a .22 LR build, right?
Right guys? Please give me a reason not to jump on this...

Edit: I haven't shot mine much but so far 100 rounds no issues.

The Blade may not be the best looking but it works great on my 10.5" nitride
