The Maryland State Department of Education recently released the 2022 state test results known as MCAP, Maryland Comprehensive Assessment Program.
Baltimore City’s math scores were the lowest in the state. Just 7 percent of third through eighth graders tested proficient in math, which means 93 percent could not do math at grade level. Project Baltimore found, in 23 Baltimore City schools, there were zero students who tested proficient in math. Not a single student. “It just sounds like these schools, now, have turned into essentially babysitters with no accountability,” said Patterson. “This is the future of our city. We’ve got to change this.” Among the list of 23 schools, there are 10 high schools, eight elementary schools, three Middle/High schools and two Elementary/Middle schools. Exactly 2,000 students, in total, took the state math test at these schools. Not one could do math at grade level. “These kids can't do math. You're not preparing them to buy groceries. You're not preparing them to do accounting, to count their own money. You're not preparing them to read contracts and negotiate salaries,” said Patterson. https://foxbaltimore.com/news/project-baltimore/state-test-results-23-baltimore-schools-have-zero-students-proficient-in-math-jovani-patterson-maryland-comprehensive-assessment-program-maryland-governor-wes-moore# |

Whats the big deal? Math is racist, invented by the white devils to oppress the greatness of Wakanda!
|
|
Well, if you look on the bright side, if they can get like two kids proficient next year, they will probably be the states top performer by % improvement.
|
|
And it’s important to note, another 20 Baltimore City Schools had just one or two students test proficient in math.

The Wire. Season 4.
Good documentary. Probably even worse now. |

I’ll bet they can name more pronouns than anyone in this thread though…

They just need math problems that are relevant to youths in Baltimore.
"You have five 30 round Glock extendo mags. How many boxes of 9mm, 50 rounds a box, do you need to fill your magazines? Will you have any rounds left over?" |
|
I wonder to what degree
1) No child left behind 2) Common Core (Billy Gaytes' baby) play a role in this? |
|
They need to elect more democrats to raise taxes and fix the education system.
|
|
B*******, they know math.

You're not preparing them to do accounting, to count their own money.
No problem, they'll be counting someone else's money ETA: wassup MD |

i bet the gender inclusive bathrooms though....cause thats what is important now....

You're not preparing them to read contracts and negotiate salaries,” said Patterson.
Yeah.....I can see them negotiating salaries. That line busted me up. |

Problem is just lack of funding funding. They just need more money.

Quoted: Thats sad, no good will come from this. View Quote Agree 100% it’s incredibly sad. Say what you want about the ways society and government have failed for things to end up here, but these kids are largely powerless to change anything and are just victims of their circumstances and that’s sad. |

Here's a math problem, how come only 2000 kids took the math test out of 23 schools? that's probably 10% of the student body.
Were the other 90% working corners that day? |
|
" You're not preparing them to read contracts and negotiate salaries,"
Relax, its not going to be an issue. |

So Baltimore is out as the center for curing cancer and the furthering of all things science. But at least they have a NFL team right?!?!?

Thats because of the way they're presenting the situation. If they presented a math problem in the context of "If you have one 10 grams of pure meth or crack cocaine and you multiply or step on it three times how much will you have?" they'd understand better.

It's all very sad.
The gov lockdowns did a lot of damage to the entire current crop of school kids too. |
