What about 1911s? Because around the 80s is when all the "necessities" like beavertails and high profile sights started happening.

But if we have one of these close to Houston, I do have this and a set of old Pachs I could put on it.

Wasn't sure if something like this would fly.

And I'm pretty sure I need one of those Brownells 1911s.

Mmm.

Would this be allowed?

1994 vintage.

Pre B.

The coating is Cera, but everything else is stock.

This plus an M14 pattern gun.

And a mossberg shockwave with wood furniture would compete my three gun set up.

I wouldn't see why not, as long as you could buy essentially the same gun back then.

I think my primary rifle and pistol would be suitable for such a thing, sans the light and mount on the rifle, using a period sling or no sling, and maybe changing out the grip for the standard FAL one (not sure if FN was making the current grip for the Minimi yet, or if they were still using the FAL one back then on the Minimi/SAW).  The Hi Power itself was made in 1980.

Ok.. all joking aside.  I think it's safe to say that a BUNCH of us are on the same page here!  This idea is really scratching an itch for me!

So..... how do we take this to the next stage of planning?

For sure buttcuffs were. Actual side saddles is a late 80s thing from what I recall. I have to research.

How about a “Not where you shop” stage?

old 35mm photos of my early custom S.A. 1911 IPSC gun. 1993 era

Started out as a mil-spec style springfield armory

I had Ken Hallock mill the slide for Bo_mars

I fitted the beavertail, and thumb safety, blended the S&A magwell.

I hand checkered it 20 LPI, then sent the lower half off to METALIFE for there industrial hard chrome.

It was a great gun

I foolishly parted it out to fund an SVI Hi-cap 2011

I pulled my Father's short sleeved raid coveralls from the storage shed.

Looks similar to what City of Miami wore during the Mcduffie Riots.

My costume is going to be this pretty much. Also digging up the Basketweave belt and duty gear.

@Miami_JBT Do you have any designs on implementing this? I have a few suggestions to get this seaworthy locally and I'm sure I can interest several people to come.

1) Rent out pop's range on US27. I've taken a bunch of classes there and it's always been a decent time.
2) Tactical Firearms Academy rents out the private range at trial glades to do drill nights. They might be interested in hosting something like this.
3) Whatever the new name is for Altair is now hosting 3 gun competitions, I know they rent out space for matches.
4) Homestead Training Center rents bays out and you can even just pay them to use their RO's.

Is the furniture actually wood?

Yup!  Looks farkin AWESOME!  I was leaning towards the Tac-14 with the wood furniture... but I saw Mossberg's Shokwave in wood behind the counter and fell in love!
The rear grip is both a little narrow and q bit slick... I see some skateboarding tape in its future.
