Elf is the worst.

I watched it for the first time this Thanksgiving.

Holy shit what a boring and stupid movie.

Exactly!! Everybody looks at me weird when I say that exact same thing. I didn't find it funny and thought it was actually boring.

It's a wonderful life
Christmas Vacation
A Christmas Story
Die Hard

Any others worth mentioning?

A Christmas Carol. I like the George C. Scott version but they are all worth watching.

The house with the leg lamp is still a thing in Cleveland.   Have you ever been to Cleveland?  That's reason enough.

Favorite Christmas movie, besides Die Hard, is Miracle on 34th Street.

I don't understand the disdain for A Christmas Story.  It's quotable, culturally relevant for just about anyone older than 40, and it represents a wonderful slice of Americana that is lost to history.  I'll grant that the story itself isn't all that amazing.  It functions more like a memoirs as told in autobiography, which makes sense because it was ripped from a book.  In that way, it works.  It's not some swashbuckling adventure that arcs and is resolved in 120 minutes like Die Hard.

I guess my point is that I've never been to 1940's Cleveland, and no one can ever go back except via movies.  Drove through it in more recent years.  Not interested in the 2022 version at all.

The best of the Hallmark type movies, IMHO

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
Holiday Engagement
Snow Bride.

Honorable mentions
My Christmas Family Tree
Christmas By Starlight
Window Wonderland

Hallmark's Three Wise Men And A Baby, which was new this year, was pretty good for what it is. It was written by Paul Campbell, who plays one of the brothers and Kimberly Sustad, who had a cameo as the Dr. They also wrote Christmas By Starlight, which I thought was funny.

I thought Spirited was pretty funny.

My daughter and I watched ‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’ and it turned out to be really good.  It explored the creative process of a writer that my artist daughter really related to.

Silent Night is new this year and we haven't watched it yet, so we'll see if it makes the cut

We watched Silent Night tonight and nope, never again.  Not that it was bad, but holy hell, what a gut punch.  Christmas meets The Road.  Damn.
