ATTENTION ALL AIRCRAFT OPERATING IN THE VICINITY OF KWAJALEIN ATOLL. FOR YOUR SAFETY OVERFLIGHT OF THE ISLAND NORTH OF THE RWY IS PROHIBITED. THIS IS CONSIDERED A HAZARDOUS AREA WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIFE. ALL ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES MAKE SOUTH TRAFFIC ONLY TO AVOID EXTREME RADIATION HAZARDS. CONTACT BASE OPERATIONS ON 126.2 WITHIN 50NM OF KWAJALEIN AAFCONTACT BASE OPS PRIOR TO DEPARTURE TO DECONFLICT WITH RADIATION HAZARD. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwajalein_Atoll Current use by U.S. military edit Short-term accommodations at the "Kwaj Lodge" showing typical Kwajalein housing construction Kwajalein and Roi-Namur are the main islands used by the U.S. personnel. Provision is made for family housing. Personnel whose family members are not with them live in hotel room style housing. Testing sites edit Of the 97 islands, 11 are leased by the United States. They are part of the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site (RTS), formerly known as Kwajalein Missile Range. The lease is active from 2006 to 2066, with an option to renew for another 20 years.[58] Leased islands include Kwajalein, Meck, Eniwetak, Omelek, Gellinam, Gagan, Ennugarret, and Roi-Namur on the eastern side of the atoll and Ennylabegan, Legan, and Illeginni on the western side.[59] RTS includes radar installations, optics, telemetry, and communications equipment, which are used for ballistic missile and missile-interceptor testing, and for space operations support.[citation needed] Kwajalein island hosts the $914 million Space Fence radar, which tracks satellites and orbital debris.[60] Kwajalein has one of five ground stations used in controlling the RTS range, which also assist in the operation of the Global Positioning System (GPS) navigation system.[a] DELETE THIS DOUBLE POST |

Quoted: Did they have a hurricane pass by recently? Giant waves? https://www.latimes.com/projects/marshall-islands-nuclear-testing-sea-level-rise/static/video/the-tomb-still-v4.jpg amazing how man can fuck up a beautiful place like that. |

It’s very clear. If a flyover can cause death then everyone on the island is dead. Unless it’s another form like radar like someone mentioned. |
|
Quoted: But why just the north half of the island? If it was radiation wouldn't it also spread to the other half of the island? Or does the wind only blow one way out there? The term "Radiation" covers a lot of ground. It could mean gamma radiation, x-rays, am radio, or the beam of a flashlight. They are all the same thing with different frequencies and energy levels. |

Complete guess, but the way it comes across makes me think it might be some kind of directed energy weapon tests. Which would be inline with a missile defense test site. Google "laser driven proton beam" for some light reading... |

Quoted: The enviromentalist have been claiming the nuke waste storage place is leaking for the last 10 years at least . Maybe it really is . Any Rad waste in disposal facility or containment apparatus is monitored daily, or per shift. Any leakage AT ALL is addressed immediately. |

It’s very clear. If a flyover can cause death then everyone on the island is dead. Unless it’s another form like radar like someone mentioned. Pretty much. Any active source that can cause issues at flight altitudes is basically on par with an active uncovered reactor core (Chernobyl) or an actual open air blast. Gotta wonder what the fuck they're testing though that can output enough energy to be a threat to nearby aviation... |

Nothing to see here... The radiation hazard is almost certainly from a bigass radar. Here is a news report about the same thing in California in 2004. https://www.avweb.com/briefs/radiation-notam-confusing/ Here is a document about NOTAM radiation alerts from a Falcon1 SpaceX launch. (who also launches from Kwajalein.) https://spacex.com.pl/files/2017-10/final-spacex-falconprogram-ea-27sept07.pdf?188398639a 3.1.2.1 Region of Influence The region of influence for airspace at USAKA/RTS includes the airspace over and surrounding the proposed launch site on Omelek, the launch hazard area, debris containment corridor, potential regional radiation hazard areas, and airspace over and surrounding Kwajalein, and Meck. Not all that uncommon. |

Are you attempting to demonstrate any particular point by posting a random NOTAM from a different hemisphere than the OP references? Is there some link between a pig hunt in Fort Lauderdale and weapon system operations in the far Pacific? |

Quoted: I used to have a neighbor that was an engineer at Raytheon and he overseeing the bearing change on that huge radar dish on Kwaj. He was always going out there for something or other and said it was great out there. Turned out the crazy fucker had another family out there! I felt bad for his wife and sons, they were good people. Raytheon must actively recruit assholes. I’ve dealt with one before. |

It is not well known outside of UFO circles. Kwajalein is the landing site for the Grey's from Sirius. They return every eight years and seek to expand .gov contacts. It is isolated to the extent nobody can easily get there. The last thing anyone wants to be spotted is a 100 meter flying saucer.... |

Quoted: I just mean I’ve read many notams. My whole life has been spent reading Notams, and Arfcom. Equally worthless, but at least I kinda get paid for the former. Worthless? You mean you don’t spend time agonizing about an unlit 200 foot antenna 8.7 miles from the airport?

Quoted: That's awesome. I cant believe we have an array that requires you shut everything off within 50km of a location or risk death :D But then, The uninformed banter here really makes note of how far this site has slid. Either a bs cover for something else, massive ionizing radiation release...which seems unlikely but I don't know what's stored there, or a directed energy test of some type. |

https://www.lockheedmartin.com/en-us/products/space-fence.html The World’s Most Advanced Radar In March of 2020 the United States Space Force (USSF) declared operational acceptance and initial operational capability of the Space Fence radar on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Space Fence, now the world’s most advanced radar, provides uncued detection, tracking and accurate measurement of space objects, including satellites and orbital debris, primarily in low-earth orbit (LEO). The new radar permits the detection of much smaller microsatellites and debris than current systems. It also significantly improves the timeliness with which operators can detect space events. The flexibility and sensitivity of the system also provides coverage of objects in geosynchronous orbit while maintaining the surveillance fence. Before Space Fence, the Space Surveillance Network (SSN) tracked more than 20,000 objects. Now, the catalog size is expected to increase significantly over time. Space Fence also detects closely spaced objects, breakups, maneuvers and launches. According to the Space Force, the system is the most sensitive search radar in the SSN, capable of detecting objects in orbit as small as a marble in low Earth orbit (LEO). |

Could be directed energy, a giant radar, or any of a number of military or scientific things. The docks are north of the runway so it could be something that is ship-based also. Low flying aircraft are a concern - The army has a few helicopters there to shuttle people and equipment around the atoll. |

I can proudly state that a Raytheon manager stated he would never renew my contract again. Cool, we mutually agree. |
