Large black snake in the road. Will you
Intentionally run it over Intentionally miss |
I don't like trying to run over snakes, but I'm not going to get myself or my passengers hurt/killed because of some snake.
BTW, I stopped my car for a snake that was stretched across a dirt road. Had I proceeded, I would have ran it over. Got out to inspect it and saw it was a bull snake. Good stop. |
The big black snakes in my area are harmless at worst, beneficial at best. I'd miss him if it wouldn't put me in danger.

I don't like snakes, what happens happens.
I did stop and help a turtle across a road a few weeks ago |
what is safe for me to do?
I'll avoid running it over if safe, I'll run it over if not. |
Saw a turtle (box) in the middle of road. Stopped and pulled over and helped him to the other side of the road.

You don't want to run over a snake. Snakes have this weird tendency to flip up and get stuck on hot exhaust components and sit there and cook for a while. It doesn't smell great.
Don't swerve or lock the brakes up or anything dangerous, but you're best off ignoring snakes when driving. Hit the fuckin squirrels instead. |

I was riding my mountain bike down the road last summer. Saw about a 6' Bull Snake in the road. I pulled over and moved him to an adjacent field.
Had it been a Diamond Back there would have been no fucks given. |

Snakes eat a lot of things that cause much more misery than snakes

Stop. Get out. Capture it. Bring it home. Let it loose in attack. It chows down on tree rats. Win win.

I live on a tar and chip road, almost no traffic. If I see one on the road I stop and move it to the side. Black snakes are good snakes.
I would stop, capture snake, put said snake in cloth sack and carry snake home to live around my house.
They kill copperheads and I hate copperheads |
Depending on how busy the road is I may move it.
If there is visibly no other cars around? Try to miss it If trying to avoid it has any chance of hurting anyone in my car or other cars? Sorry, snek. |

No poll option for "Stop, ID it, and try to carefully move it out of the way"
Run him over, execute immediate U-turn and run him over again. Get out of car and mag dump into his head while blading at 45.
FPNI, as usual.
If it's anything other than a sure fire black snake though, I'll swerve to hit it. |

I'm not a degenerate and take no pleasure from intentionally harming innocent animals. As long as the snake is minding his own business and harming no one, I don't see a reason to go out of my way, like some here would just to get their jollies off.

If possible to safely stop will move it off the road. I will move any non-venomous snake/turtle/hedgehog...to safety but will not screw with things such as rattlesnakes if I'm say in the States or an asp in Spain . I will get a stick and move little European vipers out of the way but I'm not willing to risk a bite from something that will do damage. I've been bitten enough times by non-venomous snakes for it to not be any big deal.
Let it live! Snakes are good....well...the non-poisonous kinds anyways
Stop and see if it's black, or if it just identifies as black. Does it know the handshake? Does it keep it one hunnid?
