[ARCHIVED THREAD] - ARIZONA REGULATOR dropped America’s FRT in EE - Q&A ask the Inventor/Manufacturer (Page 18 of 21)

Quoted: The third position version would be sweet. Are you designing it to be a drop in unit? Would buy it in a heartbeat if you can design it to use standard milspec FCG pins. Same, i like the 3 POS FRT but hate the idea of if it's breaks I have no gun. Should this one break I still have a semi auto trigger of decent quality. |

I'm not speaking for JD, this is the fix that worked for me while using the Geissele SSA newer production trigger that I purchased last month from Primary Arms The tail of the disconnector is the issue, and it is easily modified and the fix does not appear to cause any change in the way that the trigger operates. The AZR-15 lower leg must cam-forward slightly to function on the rear trigger bar. With the older style disconnector, the lower leg of the AZR-15 presses down on the spring-loaded rear of the disconnector and is able to function as it should. With the newer version of SSA, the disconnector tail is slightly shorter in overall length, and the AZR-15 lower leg will not cam-forward because it is up against the rear face of the disconnector tail instead of on top of it. In my situation, it caused me to experience a dead trigger. Excuse my crappy image below that I produced to try to explain what I'm talking about. In the image you can see that I had already removed some material from the rear of the disconnector, but it was still not enough to function. The red graphic represents the bottom leg of the AZR-15. Attached File The following image is of my Geissele SSA disconnector after removing more than enough material for the AZR-15 lower leg to cam-forward as it should. This appears to be the same modification that JD suggests when using a Mil-Spec FCG and disconnector. Attached File This Geissele SSA modification was easily done by me for my purpose. It took me longer to explain and post this than it did to modify my disconnector. I did not have to do any fitting of the AZR-15. After modifying the SSA, the AZR-15 was dropped in and all uppers I tried ran flawlessly, including 7.62x39 caliber. If I've made any errors or misinterpreted any mechanism of the AZR-15, I would expect JD to set me straight, as I do not speak for him or his invention. Good day ARFCOM |

Bought a couple of the Arizona Regulators recently, it comes with a disconnector with a scribe mark so you can modify the disco so you don’t have to grind on the regulator as much. I installed it in my 10.5” suppressor host and it kind of worked but I kept getting hammer follow and light primer strikes. From my experience with the #Bunpsaw project I installed a Spikes ST-T3 H3 buffer in my carbine and now it runs like a scalded ape. Cool product, I’m prolly gonna stockpile a few more. Just a public service announcement I have a brand new SSA and an older SSA – E. I pulled the disconnectors and they appear to be exactly the same to me. ETA One thing that I did notice was the E appeared to have a shorter spring and is from Primary arms November 2021 |
|
I had the chance to run mine again today after poor results last time. I’ve found that removing the spring from the Vltor a5 will make the rife run properly. Night and day experience between the two. Before I would get doubles and then a light primer strike. Without the spring it runs perfectly. The weights absolutely need free movement to prevent bolt bounce. |
|
Quoted: Any idea what is causing the light primer strike? This Lower with the light strikes is a Sons of liberty soul snatcher lower with an ALG advanced combat trigger. The ACT appears mil spec but that may be the problem? I’ve got two Aregs and this is the first issue I’ve found. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/99571/IMG_5872-3564684.jpghttps://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/99571/IMG_5873-3564685.jpg Those look to be not light primer strikes, but the inertia of the firing pin tapping the primer as the BCG closes, and the trigger following the bolt bounce. I would use a heavier buffer with sliding weights. |

Yep 2S Here’s the triggers video with more info Consider putting that 2 stage spec on your website. I have multiple guns with both 1 and 2 stage, but other folks might get caught with the wrong one. I shot mine this weekend. It is absolutely bitchin. |
If you want to get real sporty with one of these search out one of the old JP enterprises triggers before they went to the cassette setup. ![]() It uses a Milspec hammer and disco with overtravel and take-up. Im wondering if the mating surfaces are going to hold up though and JP doesnt make them anymore. |

Quoted: Is the only difference with the M2 and the MBT model is length of "leg"? Debating switching triggers over to MBT, buying an MBT Regulator and filing my current M2 down to fit so I'd have 2 working for MBT Dumb, Brilliant? thats the core principle the m2 series are based off the original azr-15 unit m2 has a preset lower cam for each model |

Im wondering if the mating surfaces are going to hold up though and JP doesnt make them anymore. I have like a 17 year old JP trigger that has setscrews in 2 places for take up and over travel. You can also limit sear engagement with the overtravel screw as well. It came with a couple of different hammer springs too. One was painted yellow IIRC. I think they use a "standard" disconnnector and could probably be made to work, but you'd be better off backing off the travel adjustment screws completely to give the AZR room to be properly fitted and to function. |

If it were me, I'd think removing material from the cheapest part is the way to go. I'd be cutting the disconnector or the top of the trigger tail to fit, not the AZR. Or to put it another way, if you have multiple guns and one AZR, make the guns fit the AZR so it will work perfect in all of them. But I'd also say just follow the AZR instructions if you want to be sure it works in at least one gun. |

Good day ARFCOM This is exactly what I did with mine I easily fired over 1000 rounds with it no problems whatsoever. I just used a mill file and cleaned up with a little 800 grit sandpaper. A Dremel would work just fine but keep some water to the side and don’t let the disconnector get hot. Grind dunk grind dunk If it gets too hot to hold with bare hands you’ve done it wrong. |

I’ve used the thing with regular milspecs and the JP. It works well with the standard setup and phenomenally well with the Jp but I have real doubts of the trigger holding up. It’s made for precision and well, this isn’t precision. ![]() The reason it works well is because it’s essentially a milspec trigger with adjustments.
