I’ve met someone who was a biological female, who identified as a male, but identified as a gay male. They (?) were dating a biological male that also identified as gay. Am srs. That’s like being straight with extra steps.

Years ago I saw an article on that topic. A lesbian dressed up convincingly as a man to see what it was like. She expected privilege. Instead she found out it was incredibly difficult. No one cut her slack. And she was pretty straightforward about it in interviews. I'm guessing she lost her gold star in that community.

The mental health professionals have by and large taken a stand to overwhelming support, and ONLY support being affirming of such identity issues. Going against the grain and treating it as a problem to work on and developing their identify as their biological sex is strongly frowned upon, neigh, considered "unethical" by all the major mental health boards and associations. You'd risk losing your license or lawsuit over if it someone complained.

There's no evidence based practice for treating it, yet if you treat 'against' it rather than being super affirming, then you're in the wrong for not using evidence based practice. Cause that makes sense. Rest assured, whatever treatment they actually gin up research to support it, it will be exclusively affirming to reinforce whatever phoney baloney false identities a person experiences. Unless you identify as Conservative, lol.
