I’ve gone AOG at some pretty austere places. Nothing like remote Norway though.
I flew a Falcon 20 with the cockpit window removed from North Eleuthera to Fort Lauderdale once. That was a slow ride. I can’t comment about some of the other stuff I’ve done to get home. |

At least they aren't going to outright steal it like the Chinese did with that EW plane.

View Quote The Osprey has nothing on the Blackhawk, although I'm sure numbers have something to do with that disparity. I don't think the track record has been that bad since it went operational, but I don't know the total flight hours divided by incidents of it compared to other aircraft. |

Perhaps the Osprey's replacement should be a hell and air/sea plane.

Don’t forget, all the equipment and the supplies are provided by the Norwegians and paid for by the United States. It is like going on a diner and show date, but no happy ending.

1940 China they would disassemble it in its entirety for the American Volunteer Group (Flying Tigers) and pack it out. I don't expect the Norwegians to work like a bunch of coolies.

I'm surprised the Air Force didn't pave a ramp and build a Burger King.

Quoted: One of my best friends from school was killed in an Osprey crash in June this year. Should ground these things. View Quote That was ruled pilot error. Is that somehow the fault of the machine? People love to shit on the osprey but it has one of the best safety records of any aircraft ever. Look up the history of the F-100 super saber if you want an education. |

Quoted: 4% fieldloss/crash rate is kinda high? Not even due to combat View Quote Considering the maturity of the entire concept, they're doing great. Rotary wing wasn't this safe at this stage of its development. Rotary wing was, likewise, far safer than the early development of fixed wing. Perspective matters. |
