Love seeing BRUTE recognized in this thread. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/48/KMFDM_-_Symbols.png View Quote His art gets positively crazy when animated. I can easily imagine this having been played on TVs in the background of industrial clubs about 20 years ago. Or passed around in tape format amongst industrial kids as the fucking coolest music video ever that would never make it on MTV ever. |

Yep. That album cover got Jello Biafra raided by the FBI for obscenity charges for "harmful material to minors". In April 1986, police officers raided his house in response to complaints by the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC).[21] In June 1986, L.A. deputy city attorney Michael Guarino, working under City AttorneyJames Hahn, brought Biafra to trial in Los Angeles for distributing "harmful material to minors" in the Dead Kennedys album Frankenchrist.[nb 3] However, the dispute was about neither the music nor the lyrics from the album, but rather the print of the H. R. Giger poster Landscape XX (Penis Landscape) included with the album. Biafra believes the trial was politically motivated; it was often reported that the PMRC took Biafra to court as a cost-effective way of sending a message out to other musicians with content considered offensive in their music.[22] Fuck you Tipper Gore! The keyboard player is friends with Jello. We were playing a gig in Boulder (the old Blue Note on Pearl Street). In walks Jello. We were hanging out in the back room. Jello knew that I was a fan, and they were recording FrankenChrist at the time. Well a few weeks later that album was tied up because of the cover art. My friend in the band hands me a copy of the album. From the studio. The next day at school I was playing the cassette on my Walkman. I may have sold some copies of the tape. It was several months later that the album got released. Anything H. R. Giger is automatic win. Yep. Yes I have to agree with the Roger Dean suggestion without that guy there would have been no film " Avatar", and the Pink Floyd ( apart from the shot of Hilary Clintons fat arse on "Atom Heart Mother") are a bit boring . The Pop Art stuff was worn out and so was Dali's art like ' Virgin Being Sodomised by Her Own Chastity" , although I think something may have been lost in my translation ! Probably better known as "the huge hovering penis rear ends naked chick" !
Nevertheless I nominate " Who Will Save the World (Groundhogs) and " Cant Buy a Thrill" (Steely Dan) , "Deep Purple in Rock" ( Justin Bieber......hell no ! ) and a few weird ones from Tool , Sigur Ros and Rammstein ! |

View Quote I have a huge ass poster of that Probably 5'x4' that I got at the concert for that tour. Mormon dude that owned the frame shop I took it to had an ethical dilemma when I asked him to frame it. |

There is has been so much great cover art over the decades. It's one of the many reasons I love vinyl over CDs. Granted it's not the main reason, but it's hard to feel anything about a pic so small you can't make out the details that were so thoughtfully designed.

Perturbator's Dangerous Days and Uncanny Valley.
Also, honorable mention to Mayhem for putting their dead bandmate on Dawn of the Black Hearts. |
