The top rifle is in .270 and the bottom one is in 6.5x55mm

Why? 30.06 is the original. Anything else is silly, or an affectation.

Let's look at the .270.  As you can see, she wears a Criterion barrel.

The .270 is Breda BMR 68. ( .270=6.8mm, so serial number 68 makes sense)

I always wanted to get a 308 garand.

How do you like it compared to the -06?

It seems closer to the originally intended caliber.

Lighter recoil?  Flat shooting?  I would assume accuracy is just as good as -06 at the minimum.

The .270 Garand uses a standard gas plug and the load is the Hornady 120 grain bullet together with 48.0 grains of IMR 4895. The estimated muzzle velocity is about 2950 fps.

Recoil feels much less than a .308 Garand.

Notice the Ron Brown sling.

.270 Garand is better in every way. Recoil is light and it shoots like a laser.

.30-06 just feels wrong in the Garand, I’ve thought that for 20 years.

(The hole in Justin Bieber’s neck in my avatar came from a Garand).

The 6.5 Garand was built on Breda receiver BMR 65.

I fucked around and missed getting one. This was one of those "i'll get one in a bit, gonna buy something else first, they're not going anywhere". That "in a bit" never came. .

The 6.5x55mm Garand uses a standard gas plug and standard Garand parts. Like the .270 Garand, it works with the standard enbloc and you get the satisfying ping after the last shot.

This custom sling was made by Joel "East" Berlin and features nickle plated frogs.

I saw someone had converted a Garand to 458 win mag.
I wish it was production, I NEED one of those in my life.

The 6.5x55 Garand uses a 120 grain Hornady match bullet loaded with 39.5 grains of IMR-4895.  The estimated muzzle velocity is 2750 fps.

The 6.5x55 Garand is extremely soft shooting. It feels like shooting a .223.

The 6.5x55mm is probably the sweetest Garand to shoot.

OP builds or acquires interesting variants of a rifle that saw around 5,400,000 produced. I applaud his ingenuity. He should find a mix master version and throw it into a Sage chassis and tell people it’s an all parts matching sniper just to fuck with people who lose their minds over stupid shit.

I got lucky as hell.  Went to the CMP store on a whim, they put a .308 on the shelf while I was there.  I only went for one but ended up with a serial number from WWII and the .308.  If I am lucky, one of them was used by a brother from another mother on an island hopping campaign or in Europe.

If you look you can find a USMC Garand. There was a rebuild program in the 1960s and a rebuilt USMC Garand will be electro pencilled 0-65 or 0-66.

I stole this picture from usmcweaponry.com
