EVERYTHING makes you a racist if you're white... Youre only racist if you give a shit, and like lgbtq , being called a bigot, homophobe, misogynist, or racist / racism has become a hammer to bludgeon opponentswith to bully people, , never care enough to give them that power over you. Them. Your a racist ! You. Yeah, little bit, so what ? |

Please, o please let negro become the acceptable word for black people again.

Quoted: Is this a movie about black dads who live in the same homes with their children and marry their mothers? That'd be pretty fucking magical And before somebody gets butt hurt, I'm speaking as the spouse of a teacher at a title one elementary school I hear how many Hispanic kids have their dads showing up for stuff versus the black kids (and the 8% white trash kids). View Quote More like how 80% of black mothers are magically single moms without husbands . |

While I was driving to Natchez, MS two weeks ago, I was stopped at a light. The black fellow next to us rolled down his window and spit a big loogie on my car while looking at us. I guess he hasn't gone to the Magical school yet.

Quoted: Knew the moment I read the movie title it was going to be a satire on this Hollywood trope. It could have been a funny and novel premise for a comedy but it looks like they shoehorned in a cliche rom com storyline with a racially ambiguous looking lady. Nothing worse than cliched RomComs storylines. Man/woman has a secret, falls for dream beau(unsuspecting of secret) who falls back, dream beau finds out secret and rebuffs man/woman, they reconcile and live happily ever after. Be funny if they satirized this overused trope as well but I don't think this movie is up for skewering two tropes deftly enough for the movie to work. View Quote Well at least it's not another Captain-Super-Bat-Avenger-Man movie with no plot, minimal character development, and way too much CGI. This one just has the way too much CGI. |

I noticed they hired the most articulate black actors they could muster to portray gainfully employed, purposeful people.
Those kinds of folks don't need magic to coexist. |

Will this be a Kwanza classic like Die Hard is a Christmas classic?

I think this is meant to poke fun at these racial tropes while not taking itself too seriously.
Might actually be kinda funny. I think the woke crowd will actually hate this because it makes their whole racist shit a joke, has black people basically being a white person's pet, has lots of black cast being angry at a black man for doing something to better himself (find love/wife). But they will love the premise at face value. Maybe their heads will explode, who knows? I can see black and white friends watching this and laughing about it together. |

The Marvels- "Black Girl Magic!" |

You know, at this point I've virtually stopped consuming everything their culture offers, and shit like this only reaffirms that this was a smart decision.

I’ll watch it if they promise to make a movie about the magical YT who works hard and pays taxes to support the PoC that stole his Kia.

Actually, this could have been a lot of fun.
The noble savage, mystical native tropes have been around a long, long time. And a native in India or a Native American - whatever have filled these roles. Black surgeons, judges, etc. have been getting shoehorned into roles since the 60s TO MAKE A POINT! Did Bullitt need a you honkey ass racists don’t recognize a black doctor is every bit as good and better than some old white doctor scene? Did whatever marvel movie it was that year need a teenage Wakandan chick scientist to make the two Avenger super genusies look stupid? These scenes can be pretty over the top and alienate viewers. Yeah, pretty much 99.87% of white people understand a black person CAN get an MD and be a surgeon or have a physical sciences or engineering Ph.D. or whatever. It’s just…. There are some pretty objective numbers out there that it’s a pretty limited supply. Not every one, and that’s with a lot of accommodations. It really clashes with real world experiences. Now, it’s a little more subtle and nice to slip them in as someone very wise and experienced with some pretty impressive insights, that seems to go over better. And the lead characters can virtue signal how they are down with the brown for listening to the homeless guy or janitor or whatever. And you know what, it doesn’t really clash so much with real world experiences. We have all met some pretty insightful people that surprised us. Now, Stephen King and some others kind of would go overboard and make these wise, insightful, well meaning people straight up magical. Around 20- 25 years ago, when people still might read the Sunday paper or the weekly Time or Newsweek, I remember Spike Lee going off about good black actors being sidelined into magical negroe roles. He had educated and intelligent parents, he was intelligent and educated. With an education well versed in literatures, literature portrayed as film, etc. He was quite vocal around this time railing against the magical negroe in film, etc. Which kind of brought it more into the mainstream. This could have been the title of the movie with a much more pertinent portrayal and message. |

Quoted: The premise is black people are tired of going out of their way to make white people comfortable. Obviously there is no.... inverse interpretation of events.
