Anorexic YouTuber Eugenia Cooney, 29, prompts wave of serious health concerns after showing off her TINY frame in new Instagram posts - as critics call for her to be BANNED from the app for 'promoting self injury'



The 29-year-old vlogger, who was born in Massachusetts, first caused a wave of upset back in 2013 when she began posting clips of her physique on the platform where she built up a loyal fanbase with her beauty tutorials.

And she has since been the focus of much controversy which was recently reignited after the star shared a series of Instagram posts from her recent getaway.



Many of her 682,000 followers are now urging others to report Eugenia's content in a bid to get it removed from the site 'for the sake of young women and men.'




In her latest social media video Eugenia can be seen wearing an ensemble which consists of a long-sleeve sweater, studded shorts, thigh-high socks and embellished boots.

The social media star, who finished the look with a pink metallic-effect bag, strolled toward the camera before stopping from time to time as she appeared to reach for the railing.

In another post, this time consisting of a single image, she once again opted for an all-black outfit as she showed her side-profile to pose with her hand on her hip.

She uploaded the snap alongside a caption which stated 'here one more day and then heading back' - but did not state where she has been.

But it wasn't the vacation which had other social media users commenting - and instead they focused on Eugenia's thin frame and its potential impact on other young viewers.

One user wrote: 'At this point there's no helping this girl. Report these posts for the sake of young women (and men) on this app that this creates an unsafe place for.'

Another added: 'What I don't understand is why they don't ban her.'

And a third said: 'Once again Instagram lets posts like these impact our children... very, very disturbing.'  





Eugenia's followers first begged her to seek help in 2016 and even started a petition to ban her from YouTube - claiming that she was promoting anorexia.

At the time, she released a statement that read: 'Some people are saying I'm like a bad influence on girls. I just want you guys to know like I have seriously never have tried to be a bad influence on YouTube or to influence anyone badly. I would never want to do that.

'I have never told anyone to try to like lose weight or to try to like change the way they look or to look like me.'

More than 18,000 people signed a Change.org petition calling for her to be temporarily banned from YouTube and seek medical help.

'Eugenia Cooney has a serious medical condition and needs to seek help. She has been influencing her viewers by her serious underweight condition,' it said.

'She may not be intentionally influencing her viewers but showing 50 per cent of her body in videos and pictures are not helping girls with anorexia or any eating disorder,' said administrator Lynn Cloud.






Among those to have signed the petition was one person who claimed their cousin starved herself to look more like the vlogger.

'My little cousin lost 17lbs because she wanted to look like Eugenia. She is now receiving care. She is only 12-years-old.'

The petition appears to have since been removed from Change.org.

In 2019, Eugenia took a break from social media and sought treatment but, when she came back to social media, viewers pointed out that she was still unwell.

Anorexia is an eating disorder that causes people to obsess over their body image and what they eat.

According to Mayo Clinic, the eating disorder also includes emotional and behavioral issues that the person suffering to have an unrealistic perception of body weight along with an extreme fear or gaining weight or becoming fat.

I went to college with a girl who had her arms and cheeks. I don't recall seeing her less than fully dressed so can't comment on legs or torso.
Her nickname (not to her face) was skeleton.
I ate lunch with her on occasion, never noticed any signs of eating disorder.
But it's a lot easier to look like that at 18 than it is at 29, you've probably got to try very hard at Cooney's age.
