I think mine is approaching 250 miniatures/vehicles/scenery pieces.

It's almost like hoarding. There's so much, I just don't know where to begin. Sad thing is, it's also 3 different armies (necrons, Blood Angels, and Grey Knights) so there's no one way to prioritize.

My painting backlog is currently somewhere in the neighborhood of roughly 4,500 pts of Berzerker-centric Khorne-themed dark mechanicus using the CSM codex, about 2,000 pts of what are these days called Agents of the Imperium, 3,000 pts of AdMech, abour 2,000 pts of Space Wolves, about 1,000 pts of Imperial Knights, about 3,000 pts of Heresy-era marines, and a 20-gallon Rubbermaid tub full of various unassembled plastics, bits, and sprues.  And that's just for 40k.

Not 40k but somewhat related.  I'm not a good painter but I enjoy it and they'll at least look better than unpainted models on the board.

I never really noticed how badly the FSA from Dystopian Wars stole design cues from Man O' War.

I just got the Dark Imperium box on Monday and I've painted the Lord of Contagion and the Captain in Gravis armor (Blood Angels scheme) so far. I'm really not a chaos guy but I had a lot of fun painting the Death Guard. I was proud when my wife said it looked disgusting

I've really been thinking about getting into AoS. The new starter sets seem like they're good deals. What an odd thing to say about a GW product lol. I'm also really amped about Kill Team.

I'm pumped.  I hope they sell the rule book separately.  I don't need all the terrain or the minis as I can use the stuff I already to form any number of Kill Teams.

ETA:  Ah, read the Q&A.  They say the rule book will be available separately.  Count me in.

Played a game, my Imperial Guard vs the other guys Eldar. I ended up winning. A few key points:

Knight Commander Pask in a Leman Russ Punisher is amazing.

Leman Russes with Battle Cannon in general are good.

Make sure you bring enough Infantry to provide screening against CC oriented enemies, as well as bubble wrap your tanks against deep striking.

The Eldar have some very impressive Psychic abilities.

3 squads of 3 mortar teams are now auto include in my lists. I brought 2 squads at 33 points each and they killed way more than their points values.

Painted models result in better dice rolls

Question about rules.

On charge, the targeted unit can shoot overwatch. Is that with all shooty weapons? As in a baneblade would be shootings a fuckton if you charged it?

Which begs the question, why ever charge anything? Just adjust your movement amount so you can move/advance to melee range so the otherdude doesnt get a free round of shooting at you???

You have to keep a minimum spacing unless you charge.  The only way to close into CC is by declaring a charge, to which your opponent gets to overwatch.  And, yes, a Baneblade can shoot all of its guns at the charging unit. It helps to have a sacrificial unit that eats the overwatch, but still ales it into combat, to preserve your better unit(s).

facebook groups work pretty well too. not sold anything but have done lots of buying on it. some things sell in minutes, some not .  just make sure to get paid first.  I am going to crash since I gotta get up early. but if you want I can link about a dozen of them.

ebay still has a metric shit ton of 40k stuff for sale.

I thought 40k was expensive.  Then I over heard what some of the up-to-date M:TG competitive decks costs and I about choked.  I played back in the mid-90's or whenever it was when Urza's was being released.  I never would've thought the game would be where it is today back then.  Fucking crazy.

This is why my Baneblade has 4 sponsons with 4 Twin Heavy Flamers.  That's 8 D6 of fiery hate that hits automatically even in Overwatch.  STR 5 and AP -1 means it has a good chance of wounding MEQs and below.

With the potential to roll anywhere from 8 to 48 wounds I have even managed to cook some large Tyranids with good saves just by volume of dice.

I posted pics of my Warhammer room earlier in the thread. We have since moved out of that home and into a new one, and now have a larger Warhammer area in our "hobby loft."

Attachment Attached File

I had full sized Chapter Banners custom made for our main armies, Blood Angels for the wife and Ultramarines for me.  They are available at BAS Gaming now as a standard design, and the guys there are incredible at making exactly what you want.  I based ours on the classic art and the chapter banners from the actual models.

And finally, my recently completed Stormraven.  That "clean" white was my biggest challenge to date in terms of painting.  My final and successful method was two thin coats of light grey, then four veeeery thin coats of a parchment color to even it all out,  then three thin coats of  bonewhite.  It took forever to paint it all, and has far more colors primers and shades than it would appear at first glance.  The glass was painted from the inside and was also a pain in the dick.

I just realized I was wrong, the scheme I chose is inverted from what I said, green with khaki shapes.  I've only done it on the Valkyrie kitbash I'm close to completing:

I'll be doing it on the Sentinels and any other vehicles that I buy in the future.  All my tracked vehicles were done with silly putty:
