Over two years for me.

Sure sounds good right now. But I won't - I know how it ends.

Major problem quitting before, I assume?

If so just remember you won’t be as able to take care of shit, if shit goes  south.

Stay strong.

You will only regret it later if you are weak.

I've thought about it. Not going to do it though.

Those times while financially prosperous for me, were hell on earth.

I'll never go back to it.

I just stopped one day. I've had a few now and again, but only when traveling - like visiting relatives. It's not proximity thing - I've got a few bottles down in the basement and some beer/wine in the fridge used mostly for cooking.

Yup.

If this is someone's idea of SHTF, and a sufficient reason why someone might fall back to drink, they were destined not to survive a real SHTF from the beginning.

Don't be tempted. Try replacing it with prayer, instead.

Stay strong and hang in there, OP. We're all in this together.

Its not the booze you're wanting.  Its the disconnection between reality and your thoughts you want.  Lots of ways to flip that switch without the alcohol.  Exercise, meditation, maybe just calling a bud.

Three years and counting here.  Stay the course.  I've never regretted waking up clear-headed

If you 'quit' and you're making posts about thinking about having a drink, it indicates something is there..

Don't do it.

Stay sober.

These are really stressful times. Worried about the virus, finances the future is uncertain. I don’t drink but I can see why some would. I lean on my faith and remind myself of the good things I still have. Stay strong gentlemen.

The only reason I would drink again is if added a few inches to my dick.  Even if it worked, at my age it would be wasted anyway.  So fuck it, I plan to stay sober.  db

Assuming your not an alcoholic and don't drink for other reasons, don't drink to deal with stress. It's not really a good medicine for that.
Exercise is a much better stress therapy.
If anything, have a drink to celebrate the good things when they happen, and know your limits.

If you're a recovering alcoholic, of course, stay the hell away from it.
