Either you're ignorant of history, or you are a democrat. Republicans were slaughtered after Nixon resigned. Democrats controlled Congress until 1994. That's what this is about. The Soros crowd thought that they were invincible. Never lose an election again. They would import so many more third world immigrants that they could do whatever they want. America would become one giant colonial plantation. Then they lost. So now they're pushing the fake Russia story to try and engineer the same result.
If they push out Trump it's not "Pence takes over." If they push out Trump we then have a choice between tyranny and civil war.

Prominent Republicans of day defended and backed Nixon's actions and said it was all blown out of proportion. In fact, most Republicans came to Nixon's defense. When Nixon was finally forced to resign, it was bad because he took the whole system with him. Ronald Reagan and George HW Bush were two of those Republicans, and it didn't seem to harm their careers much.
But effectively you are arguing that Nixon should not have resigned because that would have prevented Carter from becoming President. I suspect if the party establishment had contained the catastrophe at Nixon and not dragged the whole party down that might have been the better plan.
So taking this back to today, if you really think 3+ more years of what we've got is going to prevent the next Carter... I just can't see it. It's more like locking it in compared to what Pence might be able to accomplish in that time. But if Nixon's history tells us anything, it might be that it's already a lost cause. We've already repeated the history of backing up an obviously, clearly losing position. Die-hard Nixon supporters were not the ones that determined the future, they were the ones mostly locked out (in the short run).
