Though I've never heard one do it, a nickname for ground hogs is "whistle pig."
My grandma told me that my dad and his brother/sisters had one when they were kids. Someone caught it young and gave it to them for a pet. It slept in a box behind the cook stove in the kitchen. She said it would stand up on it's hind legs and "whistle" for food when it was hungry. After a couple years it had gotten bigger and gotten kind of mean and they had to get rid of it. |

Pretty sure I’ve had a few rabbits whistle when the dogs were on them.

Mountain lions "whistle". Look on youtube if you don't believe me. A guy that works for me that sometimes hunts in Texas with me listened to the youtube videos and said " that's just fucking great! Ive got to remember when we are in Texas if I hear something whistle it MAY not be YOU!" LOL I whistle at work to get peoples attention or when I need something. Evidently when I whistle it sounds just like the vids of a mountain lion! LOL
