There are ways to save money. You have to decide what is a want and what is a need. You have to go without luxuries. A cell phone is a luxury. You have to eat CHEAP.  Drive a beater car. You can't have top of the line items, you may have to use the off brand.  Cut coupons, don't spend your change. Walk or bicycle when you can. No TV, internet. You use cash instead of debit cards. Adjust your thermometer. I did it. It was not pleasant, but it can be done.

No!  Borrow that money and go to the mall to get a puppy.  It will last longer than some dangerous vacation.

If a person did all that, they could borrow even more money for even nicer vacations!

You deserve that vacation, you need that vacation. Life is about experiences, not thing.

Well, you’ll make a Hell of a lot More than the interest paid, just by borrowing for vacation and investing your Real money into a well diversified index fund.

A smart man would buy his wife a new rack so she feels good in her new bikini while on vacation.  That way after the vacation is over you can still enjoy the rack as it brings back fond memories of the vacation for years to come.

You're probably referencing my comments from the Dave Ramsey thread.

Extremely low cost loans  invested in the markets over long periods of time is a great way to improve your financial position.  If you can lock in a sub 4% note for 30 years and put all that into an index fund, you're going to come out ahead. If DCA'ing in, entry isn't important.  If putting a lump sum into the market, avoid taking the note until Shiller P/E is a little closer to the median or below.
