Just watched the video. Damn. Poor training and skills is a defense. He may lose his job, but NYPD is always an option.

The officer is going to get let go if he is on probation. Looks like he didn't consider his background.

Really the body cam footage was poor quality, couldn't see the woman at all, she might have been passed out behind a trash can or in a bush. Dog rapidly approached officer, he backed up and shot to defend himself. To me it just looks like a accident and not any gross negligence. Sometimes life is just a shit sandwich.

13-15 years ago someone near here called 911 for a harmless snake in the birdhouse...cop shot at it...missed the birdhouse and hit a 5yo fishing with his grandpa on a nearby pond. Hit that kid square in the forehead It happens View Quote I remember that. I think it occurred in Noble. |

Quoted: The story in the OP seems to imply the victim lives in the area with her SO. I guess it's possible she was homeless and lived with her boyfriend in that area, but seems a bit odd. Stotts said a lot of people in her neighborhood seem to be upset about what happened. She said she doesn't believe the woman was a threat and thinks there was no excuse for the officer to kill her like that, she said. "It's kind of touching people's hearts. A lot of people are very upset about what happened. The young lady and her fella was really nice people. They never really bothered anybody. Whatever the case had been today, whatever happened today that gave that officer a reason to kill her just doesn't make no sense. And it's just sad. It's really sad," she said. View Quote Tragedy all around here. Obviously a gross accident. We'll see what the law makes of it. |

That guy has no business ever being a cop again. He bitched out and an innocent person is now dead.
So now we have one dead and one wounded in the name of officer safety. At least this one wasn't inside a house. |
|
|
The taxpaying citizens of Arlington are going to experience a budgetary buttfucking because of this poorly trained halfwit cop.

we was there to check on her welfare and wound up killing her
and no charges because the Kings man is immune |

That fucking guy...I don't get it. If I discharged my goddamn duty weapon every time a fucking dog ran up on me, I'd be buried in paperwork and internal investigations. I've been attacked on three occasions; two times prior to my career in LE (not armed) and once while on duty (bit on my boot while running up stairs in a house). I smacked that dog (guess breed here...yup, yo got it) on the nose and he ran downstairs. I then had a fourth incident where I had gotten into a wrastling match with a wanted individual (he didn't want to go to jail, surprising, ain't it?) and he had a pretty big pitbull. The pretty big pitbull didn't like seeing his owner get man-handled.
The dog was being loud but not aggressive so we threw him outside. After the match, I went to go search perp's vehicle, pit charges me with his teeth showing. This time, he wanted a piece of my ass for certain. He was bathed in OC. It got him good. He planted his entire head in the dirt for about 20 minutes. I didn't even contemplate my 17. I'd rather give him my arm whilst I bury my Zero Tolerance into it's jugular. 99% of my work is done in suburban areas, lots of homes and citizens to consider. I would rather deal with the pain of a dog bite to my arm or leg than deal with the headache that will arise from discharging my duty weapon, but that's just me. I know many LEO's who are scared shitless of dogs and wouldn't think twice about shooting. There's the potential that my prior attacks have hardened me against future attacks, I'm not certain. I could barely even see the dog in that video. Possibility that dog was running up to show interest/affection. Poor lady's last words sounded like, "what the fuck?" I'm normally not the guy to Monday-morning-quarterback officers decisions, but this dog shooting shit is just sometimes inane. I will note, however, sometimes shooting a dog/dogs is absolutely warranted. That one cop that shot the fucking chihuahua, or whatever tiny dog it was, in front of his owner was just ludicrous. |

Yup. He done fucked up. She was directly in line behind what he was firing at.
