I was a guest at a south Texas deer lease shooting does. One night 5 or 6 of them got around a campfire and started telling hunting stories. One had just killed a cape Buffalo with a 110 pound bow. Another had been hunting in Mongolia. Another had a trip planned for Alaska. Another had been shooting doves in Argentina. Another one had been on safari in South Africa. They all were hunting with high dollar rifles. All lawyers and Bankers.
I said y'all better check your white privilege. They all got real quiet and gave me a WTF look. I said just joking i'm , damn glad i got a chance to shoot does down here with all of you. I keep getting invited back. There are many levels of White culture. These guys all worked their asses off to get where they were. |

Sure, in a time of hunger, like the lower middle ages, fatter people were attractive because their obesity in itself was an indicator of success/ wealth/ status. As we advance and learn more, as more information is made more readily available, our values change. Materialism is the device that allows for more leisure time and access to knowledge and/ or gaining of technology. And because that is what controls and dominates the environment, especially with lesser cultures (in the material sense), because there are more tools and influence to contribute to the continued success and prolonging of that more advanced culture. And why your culture should align as closely as possible to the truths of nature. And general 'universal' ideas like human rights, the wrong of slavery, etc. to promote a more peaceful, less conflicted existence. Western culture's progress, and sharing of that knowledge, to the vast improvement of humanity, was the result of many things, but mainly objectivity, skepticism and curiosity. and technology derived from that. Made available thru the adoption of ideas and concepts that proved out to advance it. the adoption of cultural mores and norms to promote that. Among them- to accept reality as it is. And work within it. Socialism is a cult/ religion. It always comes back to materialism. Karl Marx was right about that. |
