Got a new sap from Todd Foster.

9 inches 15 ounces.

Shot filled.

It would knock someone into next week.   Saps and Jacks are the most under rated defense things you can carry IMO.

Find this interesting.

For those scenarios where you don’t want to use a firearm, but still have a legal justification and need to adjust an attitude.

The smaller ones fit great in a pocket and could be very handy.

Although it’s not ARFCOM approved the only way to get ahold of them is via their Facebook page.

Foster Impact Devices

They might have an old website still but it’s not used.

Those locks they give away with guns work pretty well as saps, plus not illegal.
Nice little item to keep in the truck for just in case.

Awesome. Only seen one used once. On an aggressive vagrant in downtown salt lake. Pioneer park early 1990’s.

Lights out.

Wish I had it on video.

Yes…a few are legal though.  Utah is good to go.  I think texas is?

ETA Utah you are good if you have a CCW.  It covers “dangerous weapons”.  I go to a barber shop where the AG of Utah goes ..I asked him he said it’s kinda a gray area and they are allowed.

I can’t think of anything more effective that you can carry in a pocket..except a gun.

Some states laws are weird about shit like saps and blackjacks. Hence the "change purse" design popular among some of the EDC nerds. When I lived in Vegas they made a big deal in CCW classes about how saps/blackjacks/stun guns are all no go. Never made sense to me considering you could open carry about any gun you wanted and CCW with a permission slip.

My grandfather had a few that I wish I had today.

Most places consider it a deadly weapon if you crack someone with it. Also many places (liberal shitholes) consider mere possession of it to be a misdemeanor.

I was issued a large and a small sap in the academy back in 1998... Mine was one of the last classes to get them. Within 2 or 3 years they were taken out of policy in favor of expandable batons...

Those stupid locks are one of those things I just never have been able to throw away but have yet to use for anything ever. I have boxes of the damn things from over the years.

Today GD taught me that I own 87 saps and didn't even know it.

Not quite but I’m shopping. Your post brought back the memory of that night. I’ll likely never use it but gotta add one to the stable.

If nothing else it will look good next to great grandpa’s well used 1920’s brass knuckles.

I know nothing about saps, though they were only effective/used in smacking the noodle, Interesting.

What is an edge strike?

Instead of striking with the flat side …you’d turn it and strike with the edge.  It is very rigid and more narrow and still has the punch of the lead in it.

I have two that belonged to my father.
He was a Columbus cop.

They both have scars from use, and one is split open on the seams and wrapped tightly in electrical tape.

He told me he split the one on some drunk assholes hands. He put the guy up against his car, and the guy grabbed ahold of the “Mickey mouse” light on the top of the car.

He repeatedly hit the guys hands to make him let go.
He broke the guy’s hands, and the Mickey Mouse light.

My mom carried a 2 inch ball from a trailer hitch in her purse.   She used it on a guy that tried to rob her. She knocked out 3 of his teeth with one swing.

Some Houston firemen saw what happened and came over to help my mom and held the guy until the cops came.

This happened in 1977 or 1978  she was a pioneer of women's self-defense.

Yes those are pretty decent for the money.  A lot better than the Amazon cheapies.

The Foster saps and jacks like I have are usually 150.  But nobody makes them better.  For reels.

This guy makes good “jacks”.  They are the skinny ones…not the flat ones.  A Jack would do more damage to someone IMO.

I wish he’d update his website.  It’s horrible.

That’s why you smack someone with a zippered one filled with change and not shot.

Here is one more iteration in a sense.

I have flown with this several times and TSA has never looked twice at it.  I just clip it to my backpack and it looks like a key chain?  Either way it’s never been a problem.

The leather part is a loop that fits your hand and the snap hook part weighs 10 ounces.  It would do a ton of damage also.
