I wish I'd have gotten a screen shot of this because it was pretty bizarre. For the record, the vast majority of my FB friends are educated, well-spoken, responsible, mature adults. Which is why this caught me off-guard.

A friend posted that she put her kids to work today to get the house back in order prepping for the school year after they've spent 2 months tearing it up (she has 4 school-age kids) and there were 6 or 7 comments from other parents about borrowing her kids to clean their home or talking about making their own kids work around the house and I posted: When I tell Emily to do something like, oh, put her Capri Sun wrapper in the trash or her wet towel in the hamper I get, "Argh! I have to do EVERYTHING around here!"

Makes me smile. :o)

HOURS later someone I don't know and who hadn't been involved in the thread at all posted: "tiffany is chrislyn emily cuz u better stoping being mean to her"

I was trying to decipher it when it was suddenly deleted and replaced with: Tiffany im so sorry i thought you were talking about my little sister..im sorry i didn't realize where the comment came from..this was none of my business..

Ohio national guard was issued with M1s at the time of the Kent State shooting.

Interestingly enough my coworker was driving a m35 (Or similar vehicle) to Kent state the day before of the shooting incident when he had to turn it around and head to OSU to prevent another riot. So he missed being involved in the shooting there, but was initially supposed to be there.

Because that's what matters, right?

No, the bigger probable is those ANG troops were poorly lead and trained.
1. They should not have gotten a small group like that separated from the main body. (NCOIC or OIC failure)
2. 4 killed, 9 wounded, the longest shot was 230 meters, and they fired 67 rounds, that is pretty piss poor shooting. (basic proficiency failure, ultimately a command failure)
3. They should not have been sent out there with rifles and ammo by their command. (command failure)

Of course throwing rocks at people with guns is never a good idea.

There were riots all over the state that month, and according to my co-worker at the NG , nearly every guard had been shot at during that month who was involved in riot control. Thus the NG issued rifles to everyone as they thought that the rioters would likely get out of hand very quickly.

On another interesting note, if you look at the wiki page there's some interesting information on the possibility of handguns being fired before the volley of NG fire. On top of that alot of the protestors positioned themselves to separate smaller NG groups from larger ones.
