Quoted: I agree but using the cops logic. If you do the speed limit I'll stop you. If you speed faster than the posted speed limit I'll stop you. Point is you can't win either way. View Quote Sure you can win. If you're being passed on the right, then change lanes. Don't worry about who cops are pulling over or not. Drive the speed limit, drive under the speed limit, drive over the speed limit. Just move to the right if you're getting passed on the right, cause you aren't in the correct lane. Don't worry about getting passed by people speeding. Then maybe we would have seen someone speeding get pulled over instead of someone too lazy to change lanes. I get your point, but just ponder it for a moment. It isn't a lose-lose situation by any means. |

I'd love to drive in the left lane going the speed limit with my left turn signal on and my BFL sticker on my back window.

Drove across Arizona several times towing trailers and just stayed in either the middle lane of 3 or the right lane of two.

Quoted: I rarely see any vehicles move out of the left lane once the right lane is clear up ahead. You can say it's a passing lane, but it's really just a cruising at high speed lane. Which is fine, but I think what you have are people like the guy in OPs video that just wants to do the speed limit without having to hop in and out of the right lane all the time coming up on slower traffic, and you have left lane drivers that just want to cruise at high speed in the left lane without moving back to the right when it's clear. So, two types of lazy drivers abusing it, that is, if the left is truly for passing only. View Quote Cruising it isn't an issue. Unless you're holding up faster traffic because you don't want to change lanes. It isn't complicated. It's very, very straight forward. If someone behind you, or to the right of you is faster then you need to move over to the right. If someone in front of you is slower, then you should be able to move to the left to go around them. If no one behind you faster then you, and no one is in front of you slower than you, do whatever you want. |

Quoted: I spend the summer and fall going up north to prep for hunting and then actually hunting, about 200 miles each way. The left lane is always clogged by overweight, bald, white-goatteed boomers in their Ram/Silverado/F-150 doing 5 over while a mile of cars backs up behind them. I go fast, so I'm always coming up on people in the left lane. Cars seem to move, but a boomer truck will camp the whole time while everyone pours around them on the left side. Boomer trucks are bad enough but if you have a toy hauler you have no business being in the left lane on the highway. View Quote |

The NPCs with double digit IQs will naturally herd themselves into the right lane due to the mild annoyance. It doesn't even have to be the entire length of the left lane. Quoted: Florida is working to fix the problem. Camp in the woods, not the left lane. View Quote Florida has something similar already. F.S.S. 316.081 says if you are in the left lane and are approached from behind by someone going faster, you are to move over to the right lane. I’ve stopped a few people recently with it, especially when cars start stacking up behind them and they’ve had ample time to move over. It’s the same response each time, “I didnt know I couldn’t do that” or “I was going the speed limit”. Florida has it where you can’t be fined for going 5 over, so traffic is usually going at least 5 over, with 8-10 over the norm. I’ve noticed a lot higher in Central Florida. |

Damn right.
I was pulled over in TX for driving in the left lane once. There was nobody else around that I was impeding or even for me to, it was late at night out in a rural area on the HWY and I was pulled over because I was driving in the passing lane. |

Quoted: In WV a few years back we had a delegate introduce a bill to make left lane camping a misdemeanor. Unfortunately it didn't go anywhere. It's well known that troopers will pull people for it because the campers are typically from out of state. View Quote TX is a “left-lane” state meaning that once you complete your pass, you are required to move out of the left lane. OH and OK are also left-lane states. ETA: OH may not be a left-lane state according to another poster, but I do remember a campaign that they run in the mid-1980s about ticketing LLCs. Also, to clarify the TX part, even if there is no one else on the road (regardless of the passing part), you are still not supposed to drive in the left lane. WV is a “move-over” state which means that you can drive in the left lane all the time until someone pulls up behind you, and then you have to move over (i.e. yield the right of way). This was explained to me by the instructor [name removed] who taught traffic law at the academy to every WV State Trooper. You can be cited for impeding the flow of traffic, so you don’t really need a left-lane statute. I used to have a map of every state showing which ones were left-lane versus move-over. If I remember correctly, the move-over states are in the minority, and move-over has nothing to do with the emergency vehicle laws that have been passed in the last few years. I don’t remember a state being both. |

I've found myself in a line of vehicles all doing 100mph in the left lane on the way to Tampa. Don't ever use the express lane though, you'll always end up stuck in it behind someone doing exactly the speed limit while traffic outside of the dividers passes you by. |

We call that the middle lane around here when there are three of them and with the heavy traffic and the two to three back to two on roads around here you are going to wind up having to exit if you hang in the right lane when you don't want/need to.
I know you are from out of town so fuck you for not knowing our particular roads and trying to get somewhere without fucking getting pushed off in a direction you didn't want to go. Watch out folks there are roads that exit to the left in the US too so get stuck in that lane going as fast as you can. We are getting a diverging diamond at one interstate exit before the end of the month. It is based on lanes entering from two directions at the same time and then merging into one lane in a very short distance to enter a busy interstate. It is going to be a comedy and a boom time for the wrecker businesses around here. |

I drive I5 in WA regularly border to border. Normally at 10-15 over, although I've slown down with age. I've also driven in other states. Stay out of the hammer lane. Unless you're passing. It's pretty simple. When you pass, pass everyone and get back over. It's a great rule of thumb everywhere.
Frankly, left lane campers don't bother me as much as jackwagons with trailers in the hammer lane, and people who ride your bumper at 30+ over as you're passing traffic. Both are unsafe. I've been stopped 3 times in 40+ years of interstate driving. All for speed. All warnings, no tickets. Amazing what a clean record and a capable car can do for you. |
