Quoted: So, if you go through our BT interface, the audio is processed through the software in our A/V control unit. It gets all the BOSE treatment and spatial bullshit. Once you switch the music processor over to a third party app (Apple CarPlay using Itunes) our processing is turned off. View Quote |

Quoted: I get it that carplay is an apple thing, but the vehicle has to have software that allows it to work. Is that software in the vehicle's head unit written by Apple? I would think that it's up to the manufacturer of the head unit to implement carplay in their own system. View Quote The way they explained it to me was that CarPlay runs as the OS when in use. The navi, audio, and other features are all in the CarPlay app. Our Navi and audio are turned off when CarPlay is on. |

After I talked with our engineer, I googled the issue.
There are a ton of complaints that CarPlay sound quality is shit compared to BT Streaming in all different brands. |

Quoted: Hmm. I need to dive further into this whole thing. I've used it in a rental before, mainly for nav. But I think my manager and I were listening to music with it, too. Was a few years ago, and I don't remember any audio quality issues, but it was also a rental, so probably a base sound system with no special processing. View Quote Go to an Infiniti dealer and get in a loaded 2023 QX60. Turn on the massage seats and connect your phone through BT. Then stream a good song. Then connect through CarPlay and play the same song again. You'll see. The sound is all muddled together. The highs are too high. Mids are too high. Bass is meh. The "spatial disbursement" is gone. |

Quoted: Apparently, if you have an Iphone and run Apple CarPlay in your vehicle, the music/sound quality takes a shit. Customer is complaining to us about it. I confirmed that when you use Bluetooth music streaming, the sound is spectacular. Blasted the live version of Comfortably Numb from my phone through BT. Connect customers phone to system with wireless CarPlay. Play the same song. Total dogshit. Here's where the fight began..... Guy starts bitching that it sounds like crap. I agree it sounds like crap. Tell him if he wants good sound he'll need to use BT streaming. "Sir, Apple CarPlay is a third party app that Infiniti has allowed to operate within our hardware. If you have an issue with this third party app, might I suggest you contact the publisher of said app and complain to them?"
