Notre Dame Cathedral burns... I'm still betting on ROP activity, and if I'm right and it actually becomes widely known....going to be interesting times, for sure. |

I imagine they will. There are some amazing craftsmen who are very skilled in ancient techniques. It's an art in itself over there. They will rebuild it, and plenty of artisans will be honored to be a part of it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

It is very sad. Hopefully it is rebuilt properly. Multitudes of historical buildings have been damaged throughout history and repaired (some better, some worse). Hopefully this will just add to the history of the church and not be a detriment. I would really hope they rebuild it like the Japanese rebuild their castles; using all the old techniques and skills. They will rebuild it, and plenty of artisans will be honored to be a part of it. |

To be fair, this went nearly 12 pages in the GD with only minor fuckery until the children got out of school and started to post. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

We used to have a French team member here. It would be interesting to hear from him.

While the whitewash will eventually be complete, I'm interested in who the workers were in that area and how the fire started shortly after the cathedral closed for the day. You do know that the other churches attacked in France all got hit after closing?
Could be welding sparks, a torch happy roofer, cigarettes carelessly discarded, or something else. Not that any of this matters because the truth will never be known for sure. It'll be bull dozed and the site will be made into some kind of peace memorial. |

Breaking: France, we will rebuild. They have already submitted a model of the new cathedral. Pope gives it his blessing! https://www.AR15.Com/media/mediaFiles/139135/IMG_1506_JPG-913514.JPG View Quote |

They're trying to keep the rest of the city from burning down. The building never had a chance. There's not much you can do with a building of that size with a massive amount of 800 year old dried wood as fuel. "Surround and drown" was the only option. Oh my God this is terrible. This great cathedral has been standing for 850 years and we are now watching it be destroyed. This is just terrible. View Quote - Purgatory wasn't even defined when construction began. - Genghis Kahn was one year old when construction began. - The 3rd Crusade was 20 years after construction began. - Manuscripts were still only used by monks. It would be another hundred years until manuscripts made their way into cities. France was actually one of the first. This is a big loss |

In the show I mentioned earlier, they talked to a guy carving a replacement stone that was maybe a square yard. He said it would take two years to finish it. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I'm late on this story and about to read this thread.
Knowing GD is going to GD, I'm sure the conspiracy theorist/Muslims did it! has started here since it's all over the news article comment section...and GD has much of the same types of people. |

Huge loss for Western Civilization. Could even mark a turning point.

The scaffolding does make construction/reconstruction related structure fire the most likely cause of we're guessing.
That said knowing what I know about the US, I'd be really surprised if they didn't have insane fire hazard rules with an abundance of safety. The kind of outfit that would secure a job like that would have to be squared away. If this was the cause I can't imagine then securing more work. |

Are Democrats pushing for new gun bans yet?
Really it's too bad but let's not lose our heads over this. |

Occam's razor -> accidental fire due to work being done in that area
In any case, it's a major disaster for the Catholic church and all of Christianity |

I don't even know if you could. Does the skill set to make stained glass windows of that quality or carved wooden reliefs like they had even exist anymore? The paintings and sculptures? Irreplaceable. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:
