Netflix / Amazon is the new age of blockbuster movie production and distribution. I don't see it as being a step down from traditional paths regarding career status.
Then again some of you dudes are ancient so there's that. |

Page six and nobody said it yet.
To those who haven't seen it, "How are your holes?" |

Watched it tonight. I didn’t know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised and liked it a lot.
It also reminded me of Shadowrun and Alien Nation but I stil thought it was refreshingly original. At least more original what Hollyweird normally spews out. It would have been nice to get mor background on the world it was taking place in. It would be cool to see flash backs or a preaqel to help get the big picture of how everything came to be. |

Tried to watch, turned it off. Laying on the message too thick
Lasted up to the first gun fight and the magic |

It was OK, not great, but not bad either. I didn't get an overwhelming vibe of SJW thank god.
I saw the "No Guns" rule at the block parties a mile away as well as the "the cops ruined it" comment. I despised the ghetto thug music at the beginning and end. |
|
I liked it.
Everyone so worried about social justice. Nobody see the whole thin blue line lie about everything bullshit and get a medal at the end? |
|
I enjoyed it.
High production values. Alien Nation meets Lord of the Rings. |
|
Thought it was great fun, looking forward to the next one. Loved that Cannibal Corpse's Hammer Smashed Face was an Orc love song about fucking.

Watched it last night. I liked it. Definitely was implied that the mythical creatures had always been there- as if Middle Earth evolved into modern society. Like the one cop said: "my ancestors killed them by the thousands in Russia." eta: The Centaurs in police riot gear were awesome. Just watched it. Definitely not as bad as I was led to believe by this place in regards to SJW stuff.

Turns out one of the LE advisors for the film also worked on "Street Kings," "End of Watch", "Prisoners", "Sabotag," and "Nightcrawler". |

Wife and I watched it Monday night, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Love how all the movie "experts" are shitting all over it
We watched Bladerunner 2049 last night, the "experts" sing praises about this film.. I fell asleep, too slow and boring.. would have rather watched Bright again. |

I was very entertained by Bright. No Oscar, but entertaining.
I love the modern day middle earth theme. That was cool. |

24 Reasons Zootopia & Netflix's Bright Are The Same Movie |
|
Watched it tonight after dinner
It was alright but not fantastic I'd watch a sequel or a series if they make um though. Anyone else think the main evil elf girl looked like Ivanka Trump ? |
|
I seriously enjoyed it.
Now I expected some SJW-hollywood shit. A movie with what appears to be commentary about race, I was about certain they'd fuck it up, biiigtime fuck it up. Maybe not fullblown "Elephant refusing service and biology is the literal badguy, in a kids movie" like Zootopia, or the more subtle "All the goodguy competent white male characters were purposely destroyed (they're now quitters, deadbeat-dads, super pilots turned fratbros, etc), chose now from the womyn/minorities" Starwars TLJ. As mentioned a page ago, orcs, elves, human dynamic played out basically as it would in Dungeons and Dragons terms. I found the story compelling, I enjoyed the characters, even the ones I didn't think I would like. Badguys were forgettable to be honest. He was the correct Will Smith in this film Not the diet version (Suicide Squad), the overly serious + mopey version (the film where the kid is running around the planet, so forgettable I can't remember the name), etc. It was cheesy at (many) points, I don't think it hurt my enjoyment of it. It also had "winner" moments, the bathroom scene comes to mind. I like how the played up the importance of the wand, how absolutely everyone lost their marbles, order broke down, suddenly everyone was conspiring, etc. The ending, I think they chose the wrong shot for the big scene, but damn was it enjoyable. Honestly I wonder what the film would have looked like with bigger budget. Imperfect, but if I had to rate my enjoyment, 9 out of 10. Honestly. 2 word review, "Liked it" Possibly because I expected an SJW shitfest, and found 2 likeable characters and the hollywood derp was at a minimum, I'd describe it as a tolerable level. Note that people who were shitty to Jakoby included women and minorities. The most vocal one was indeed a "fucking white male". Note how Will Smith told him, "knock it off, that shit happened 2000 years ago, let it go" or something to that effect. A - Yes there was some racial tension a long time ago, that has nothing to do with today, drop it - That's actually a pretty bold idea, for hollywood, that's practically gulag territory. |

The director wrote End of Watch and Training Day, too. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I thought it was entertaining.
But I also didnt go into it thinking it was Pi, Memento, or Airplane either... |
|
Just got dobe watching it. Had to force myself to finish it.
Trash movie |
|

Biggest problem was (common to most elf tropes) the elves were just too incongruently badass and unbeatable.
Fuck elves. Exterminate them all. Otherwise, hardly a classic, but an acceptable way to kill some time. Training Day was much better. |
|
I enjoyed the heck out of that. Super fun.
Pretty good gun action too. |
