Drove 25 miles down the Columbia yesterday and counted 10 bald eagles. Those were just the easy ones to see since I was driving at 70.

I know they are just good looking vultures but it’s still cool that they are all over now.  25 years ago when I was a kid seeing a bald eagle was a pull over and ohh and ahh at it afair.

I saw a family feeding on a fish in Mosier the other day. Always quite a few at the mouth of the Klickitat too.

It's been nice weather lately for watching them.

I saw nine on the Washington side in one tree by horse thief lake last year.

The cattle ranchers say they get thick during calving season, they scavenge the afterbirth.

We are starting to have sightings more often in my area of New Jersey.  It's still a cool sight as there are not that many here but at least they are making a come back.

They have really been multiplying here in W Tenn.  Becoming a common sight just about anywhere I fish.   Never saw one in the wild until about 5 years ago and now everywhere!!!

One took out an aircraft on takeoff here a few weeks ago, the next day we saw two more as we were lining up for takeoff.  A few days ago one got two of my wife's chickens.

They're pretty and all but they're glorified rats.

After living on Adak for 3 years bald eagles don't lift my kilt anymore.  We counted 56 driving 2 miles one morning.   Fish stealing pet killing vultures.   They would line the chain link fence behind the houses whenever someone fired up a bbq.

Eta, don't let your cat outside for a nice run.  Never stake a dog out on a leash under 10lbs.  Might not be able to fly off with it but it will make a tasty snack.

Yeah, they're all over the place up here now(especially along the Wisconsin River). Once we stopped using DDT the population really took off. I really enjoy kayaking and seeing a few hanging out on trees above the river. Never fails to get a lil freedom chub going.

Growing up in coastal NC I saw one bald eagle in my entire childhood, and we talked about it for days.  Since then the farm next to my dad’s was converted into a 500 acre fish farm.  It’s common to see a dozen or more when I visit now.  A year or so ago, I saw a bunch of them feasting on a roadkill deer.  It was odd to see them act as carrion covered in blood and guts when they have been given such a ‘majestic’ reputation.

Same experience driving along the Columbia last week.

Shoot... "25 years ago"....most folks around here would say you were seeing things or were a liar if you said you saw one.

They are quite common around here. My Indian friend (feather, not dot) says they taste just like chicken.

We had a couple used to nest on one of our properties every year back in the early-mid 90s when they were still pretty rare to see.
Now we dont see many around our farms area for some reason.  I think they have started to congregate more where easy food is rather than spreading out in mating pairs to scavenge and hunt their own territories.
It would be cool if they got to a population that required controlling but the .gov wouod probably hire overpriced sharp shooters to cull them instead of letting normal people do it.

Same here in SE TN.

I saw the first one about 8 years ago and see them often now.

Lots of Ospreys also. I have watched eagles and ospreys fighting over fish a couple times.

I know of three nesting pairs in my area.  We used to be loaded with Goldens, those are really cool too.  I drove alongside a golden that had picked up a half an antelope on the side of the road and we traveled along together for 1/4 mile or so, him at eye height hauling a carcass and me driving an old international 5-ton.

Too many of them and they should be hunted to control their numbers and disease outbreaks...

My mom lived in S. Elgin for about 35 years, and I NEVER remember seeing a bald eagle on the Fox.  In the last few years of her life, there were a occasional Ospreys.  It looks like the fishing has gotten better.....
