Feb 4 (Reuters) - A federal law prohibiting marijuana users from possessing firearms is unconstitutional, a federal judge in Oklahoma has concluded, citing last year's U.S. Supreme Court ruling that significantly expanded gun rights. U.S. District Judge Patrick Wyrick, an appointee of former Republican President Donald Trump in Oklahoma City, on Friday dismissed an indictment against a man charged in August with violating that ban, saying it infringed his right to bear arms under the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment. Wyrick said that while the government can protect the public from dangerous people possessing guns, it could not argue Jared Harrison's "mere status as a user of marijuana justifies stripping him of his fundamental right to possess a firearm." He said using marijuana was "not in and of itself a violent, forceful, or threatening act," and noted that Oklahoma is one of a number of states where the drug, still illegal under federal law, can be legally bought for medical uses. ETA; at the very least I can't wait to hear the bitching about all the stoners driving 45 in the hammer lane. |

Practically speaking, potheads usually aren’t that threatening. The only thing they usually pose a serious threat to is a bag of Cheetos.

Shall not be infringed, actually means shall not be infringed.

Considering that the Constitution does not empower the federal government to regulate/ban a plant in the first place, it’s the proper decision.

Now rule it's legal to use and work in a job that falls under federal guidelines.

ive never had MJ, but still the principle is almost the same. |

I’ve never smoked, and have zero interest in it, but good. Barring owning guns because someone smokes pot is fucking dumb.

Quoted: Good. And I don't even smoke the shit. View Quote I agree with this. It's either legal, or it's not. Everything points to - it is legal in the states, but not at the federal level; and the feds won't enforce it. That's legal with a bunch of extra steps. We don't create first and second tier rights because people also perform other legal activities. Voting doesn't stop you from using your first amendment. |

Cool.
Now I can skip do a transfer on my CPL since the dope fiends made the devil's cabbage legal here. |
