I think that is hard to argue.  If it is not the best, it is certainly high on the list.

Damian Lewis killed it as Major Dick Winters

Favorite part of the series is when Sobel passed him at the end of the war and didn't salute him. "You salute the rank, Captain"

The story was already 50yrs old when it was dramatized into to something you could watch.

It will always be a good series to watch.

Can I retain my man card because I actually served in the 1-501st PIR, one of the units part of that whole mess?

I'll allow it.

Seriously though, go watch the series.  You do yourself a disservice for not doing so.

Yeah, I seriously need to.  Is it available for streaming anywhere or do I have to buy the DVD's?

You would be better off buying the DVD's.  It is something you will want to watch at least once per year.

I think Netflix might have had it as well at one point, not sure if they've got it currently.  I would agree with what was posted above though, get the DVD/Blu-ray version.  It is one of those rarities that's worth it.  I believe the Blu-ray is available at Walmart for about $50.

The reason it is so good is it follows the book pretty closely and Winters kept meticulous records of every thing and everybody.  Winters and his records were a treasure trove for Stephen Ambrose, my favorite author.  The story is true, and the people are real people.  Best war movie ever.

It is also so popular because it is one of those real stories that is perfect to be retold via TV.  I mean, these guys were together from Airborne school until the end of the war.

I have two friends that have never seen it.  I recommended it to both a couple of months ago. One still has not seen it.  The other started watching it and pretty much ignored his job and sleep for a few days and totally binge watched it.  It's that good.

BoB (IMO) might be the most perfect mini series ever. The character development, music-everything was (again IMO) perfect.

The last 10 min of episode 1 really hits the feels-This scene (and a little bit before with various shots of the men looking into the camera). Winters helping each guy up in his stick. The whole base watching them take off. Perfect

ETA-the other scene that almost always brings a tear to my eye is the interview with Dick Winters "Grandpa, were you a hero in the war"
