Hotdog thread got me hungry. What tier one chili do you slather your hotdog with. Mustard ketchup purists need not apply. Preferably easy to aquire for the starving GD masses :D

Coney Island.  It's not  "chili" but is good on dogs and fries.  I only eat that a couple times a year.

Right on the FPNI.

On the second, I don't want lumpy filler on my dog.

Castleberry. Tony Packo's would be 2nd for me. Both should be enhanced with fresh onions and grated cheddar cheese. Top with hot mustard.

Any decent Texas chili is perfect on hotdogs.

Depends. If i and going to fork and knife it, then my normal chili (yes, beans), some sour cream, cheese, cilantro and green onions.
If I am going to pick it up and eat it, then I basically do hamburger meat with your typical chili seasoning, onion, garlic, poblano and a little liquid to bring it all together (I normally go with a mix of tomato sauce/beer/beef stock). Kraft singles inside the hotdog bun and finish with a little green onion and yellow mustard.

Yes, Varsity chili cheese hotdogs (and burgers) are the best. They get a little ketchup and cayenne. Onion rings on the side (with ketchup and cayenne to dip)

Why would you put stewed quality chunks of beef on a hot dog? That don't make no sense.

Hormel but run an immersion blender in it before using on dogs. Makes the whole experience a little more magical.

^Not a bad idea actually.
Probably works with a lot of chili too.

Michigan sauce...The original Coney meat sauce. It's sold in Meijer and some Krogers in the canned meat section. Small Blue Can.

Beef heart and Liver, has to be in the sauce, or it's not "Coney sauce".

Yep. This is actually how I identified Hormel as the perfect hot dog chili. I tried Stagg, Dennison, Hormel, yadda yadda every damned can I could get including the abominations (Skyline and Gold Star). The abominations inspired the immersion blender and then they came in dead last. Stagg has too complex of a flavor so is best eaten as chili but the beans made for a great texture once blended. Dennison's flavor wasn't quite right. Reminded me of a can left in the fridge one day too long that you eat with your fingers while standing in front of the fridge at 0300hrs. Hormel was/is perfection when blended. It tastes startlingly similar to the chili they use at Der Weinerschnitzel which to me is about as perfect as hot dog chili gets.

This is a use case where chili with beans (yes, oxymoronic term and possibly evil incarnate but get over it for the moment) really works. The beans help to thicken the sauce even more when blended which gives the whole thing a fantastic texture. I've darned near ruined an asshole with Hormel chili, Hebrew National dogs and the shittiest white buns I could get my hands on.

Did you just call people who put ketchup on a hot dog  purists?

I don't think you understand how any of this works.

Ironically, Wolf Brand Chili makes a "hot dog sauce" which is primarily made of beans (they are pureed or something, not whole beans). It looks like chili without beans, but it's really a chili flavored bean paste.

What's the stuff I bought in PA?

Poulous hot dog sauce or something like that?  Came in a ketchup bottle, just add beef.  Not bad stuff.

Not chili.  Coney sauce.

Get it from Abbott's Meats in Flint.
