I'm kinda' that way with real sourdough...3 bucks a loaf, Fed-Ex is $50.  The bread gets frozen and keeps me going for about 5-6 months.

Consumer Reports did a review on ice cream sandwiches a two years ago (July 2012)

"Ice cream sandwiches: Walgreens Old Fashioned is the only tested sandwich that doesn’t taste of artificial flavors or have a gummy texture. Its wafers are soft and cakelike, with a big cocoa flavor."

They are on the small side, compared to some of the huge sandwiches out there, which are sometimes too big in my opinion. Walgreens are a nicely balanced  traditional chocolate cookie/vanilla ice cream sandwich, delicious and inexpensive. Obviously you can find them at Walgreens Pharmacy stores.

IT'S IT are delicious and they are a type of ice cream sandwich but they are not a traditional ice cream sandwich. IT'S IT are two oatmeal cookies with ice cream in the middle which are then chocolate dipped. Not really a fair comparison vs. a traditional style ice cream sandwich.

Blue Bunny also makes a solid traditional ICS. Their "Birthday Party" vanilla cookie with birthday cake ice cream  is good too.

Epicurious did their own taste test.

Epi Top Pick: Turkey Hill Vanilla Bean Ice Cream Sandwich ($3.99 for a box of six)

Pros: The creamy ice cream with real vanilla flavor and the moist, spongy cakelike cookie won raves from the testers. "The ice cream is so fluffy and smooth!" said one editor. "The vanilla specks are not just for show, the ice cream tastes like it's made with a real vanilla pod; very natural," said another.

Cons: Thin in comparison to other competitors.

First Runner-Up: Nestle Super Sandwich ($2.50 per bar)

Pros: All editors agreed that this ice cream sandwich's 2:1 ice cream–to-cookie ratio was just right. Tasters also loved the incredibly creamy, milky ice cream and the coffee bean color and cocoa flavor of the cookie. "A masterpiece," commented one editor.

Cons: Cookie is a bit dry, according to several judges.

Exactly, same principle as a baked potato, all nutrient goodness is in the skin.

You can actually cut the carton into section so when you peel the section you are eating the rest can be used to keep the ice cream in the sandwich.

Any time we have a "Best" food or restaurant thread it always devolves into people cheering on a small local brand with limited distribution or locations. That no one else has ever heard of unless they too lived in the aforementioned minuscule distribution area. I swear it never fails.

Doesn't matter what it says in OP.

What is the best national burger chain?

GD poster from Texas: WhataBurger!
GD poster from CA: In-N-Out
GD poster from NY: White Castle

I think many people just don't know what is or isn't a regional brand. It is available in their area, they like it, and that is all they know. Provincialism FTW!

Guess they never travel outside their own little provincial enclave.

The only reason I know what some of those things are is I have traveled.

I contend Hofmann hot dogs are the best hot dogs ever made.they started in Syracuse, NY more than a hundred years ago IIRC. They have been available by mail order for at least a decade. Only recently have they begun a push to go truly national with a partnership that includes people like Jim Boeheim (SU basketball coach). In a couple years thy might truly be a national brand. So until then I wouldn't answer Hofmann if asked what readily available hot dog is the best. I honestly am not sure what I'd say because everything else sucks ass.

not too outrageous then, this is kinda a "gourmet" ice cream sandwich right? Nothing like the pet ones in the grocery store?

You can't. Unless you want to order direct and pay $65 shipping from San Fran. Only time I have seen them in stores was in the SF Bay area. But that was 8 years ago.

meme fail. A Klondike bar is merely vanilla ice cream dipped in chocolate. An Eskimo pie with out the stick. Most definitely not an ice cream sandwich.
