I thought Greyhound was pretty damn good.
However my vote goes for Das Boot. |

Nobody has mentioned "The Bedford Incident" so I'll toss it in.

Quoted: The Bridges At Toko Ri View Quote Great film and great book. I just watch Men of the Fighting Lady recently, another Michener based film. It was very similar and also excellent. Korea is an overlooked conflict that truly yanked “citizen soldiers” away from home and sent them into battle. |

Since The Sand Pebbles, Master And Commander and Das Boot are taken, Mister Roberts.

Honestly an Officer and Gentlemen was pretty good. Some of the training scenes were dead balls accurate.
Anyways, Midway and Bedford Incident come to mind. Also Hunt for Red October and Top Gun for entertainment value. |

B/W movies not mentioned:
Sink the Bismarck Under Ten Flags about the hilfskreuzer KMS Atlantis Battle of River Platte where the USS Salem played the role of the Graf Spee |

Like the others said: Das Boot, Master and Commander, and "Would've liked to see Montana"
This one for shits and giggles just because you can never go wrong with depictions of slaying Jerry: U-571 (5/11) Movie CLIP - Infiltrating the German Sub (2000) HD |

It's a tough call between Das Boot and Master and Commander for me.
Honorable mention goes to: The Sand Pebbles The Battle of the River Plate In Harm's Way And for comedic purposes, Down Periscope. A cool thing about The Battle of the River Plate is that some of the actual ships involved in the battle, and sister ships of ships that were involved in the battle, were used in the movie, as they were in commission at the time. Can't beat that for realism as far as the ships go, even with the best CGI and models. |

Second movie I saw in a theater with my dad, which makes me biased. Quoted:not the abortion of a remake It was ok and told way more of the story than the original, but it felt claustrophobic and Woody Harrelson is no Henry Fonda. |

Wow, can't believe I'm the first to post either of these:
Crimson Tide The Caine Mutiny (Edit: Beat by 30 seconds) |

60 Men go Down 30 Pairs Cum Up.
Thought it was disgusting myself, shut it off in the opening credits, but many in GD would like it. There were many great movies about WWII, made in the 50's to 70's. Along with others of course. Midway Bedford Incident The Enemy Below The Sand Pepples Master and Commander Das Boot Horatio Hornblower series Mr. Roberts PT109 In Harms Way They Were Expendable |

my all time favorite movie growing up is Top Gun. but remembering being in 7th grade 2nd period studyhall and Mr. Wood walking in and saying the 1st World Trade Center has been bombed and when he turned the TV on then about 10 seconds later the 2nd plane hit will stick with me til i die but, i would have to say present day it would have to be Zero Dark 30!!! i will also say that i like the present day series Seal Team series also. plus my grandpa served in the Navy in Korean War.

Lol, having been on a Virginia it was funny to see where they got things close inside, and where it was really off. As they walk by the LOT, I blurted out how the hell do they have the bike in there!? My wife was not amused with me talking about where they screwed up. |
