Okay guys, long time off these boards. Long story.....divorce etc. However, I have a question. What, in your opinion, is the best vodka for the money. Yes I know grey goose etc. is all great vodka but what gives the most bang for the buck in your opinion?

In before all of the Texans start crowing about Tito's.
ETA-Tito's is the best for the money. |
|
Friis.
It's a very high-quality vodka (distilled five or six times, IIRC), but because it's not well-known, and from a country that doesn't traditionally make vodka (Denmark), its price is surprisingly cheap (almost as cheap as the really shitty vodka). I'd say it's as good as Grey Goose/Belvedere, at about 1/3 of the price. |

McCormick by the case.
Most liquor stores give 10% off for case sales. sooooo, around $70 for six big ones |

Titos then vox
I'm drinking tito's right now, and like it better then ANY vodka. |
|
Quoted: Svedka or Monopolowa Also very good, but at least in OR nearly twice the price of Sobieski. |
|
Something made from potatoes. Monopolowa or Luksasowa will do nicely.

What I have found is that the cheaper vodkas will really leave you with a "hang around" the next day. The better vodkas are distilled more times and thus more pure. Several that I have tried and liked are Skyy, Kru 82 and Svedka. Svedka around here runs about $18 for a 1.75 and the other two run about $3 to $4 more.
Keep them coming...... |

This right here. A very good Product at a reasonable price. Kinda like a AK, maybe not the best, but it works, really well. |

Crystal Skull
Dan Ackroyd's brand. I was the first to buy it from our State Liquor store branch according to the clerk. |

Thanks for all the info!!
Let me clarify it a bit though. I drink my vodka with a bit of soda or seltzer and a lemon twist with a dash of cranberry. Since I mix, spending money on a premium vodka doesn't really make too much sense. Does this help a bit? |

Yikes! 100 proof? Talk about putting some lead in your pencil.......

I'm a Rye whiskey fan but never knew about rye vodka. I do know that neither potato vodka or rye whiskey gives me hangovers. Just about everything else does. |

Another vote for Friis, its the cheapest vodka I can drink without getting heartburn

Another Missourian for Tito's! I'll buy svedka and kettle when they are on sale

I've never done it, but I've heard that running cheap vodka through a Brita filter makes it taste a lot better.
You'd probably want a dedicated vodka pitcher. |
|
Russian White Gold. Look around for it but don't let the price fool you. The best Vodka I've ever had.

Svedka, Three Olives, Boru, or Polar are all good. When we go our drinkng we tend to buy Three Olives or Svedka but will drink the others in a pinch. I personally like Three Olives the best.

Tito's is good, but I wouldn't call it cheap.
Sobieski is good, but I don't remember what it costs because I'm drinking Tito's. |

I'd say it's as good as Grey Goose/Belvedere, at about 1/3 of the price. This. I don't really drink anymore, but some years back I got into vodka for a bit. I did a bit of taste-testing of modestly priced vodkas and from what I remember (in order of awesomeness/price): Friis - like 12 bucks a bottle. Easily as good vodkas costing up to 30 bucks a bottle Luksosowa - 11 bucks a bottle. Very good, but Friis is noticeably better. Sobieski - 9 bucks a bottle. Svedka - 12 bucks a bottle. Probably as good as Absolut, but Absolut isn't very good so...basically Absolut at a more fitting price. Tito's is very good, probably my favorite vodka but at 18 or so a bottle it's sort of my top shelf for vodka. Best, smoothest vodka I've had was Christiania - I had a bottle before they changed the design (There used to be a crusader on it, and the shape was rounder), but it's like 35 bucks a bottle now. Friis and Luksosowa are legitimately good, at a price point that won't break the bank. |
