Just saw him in Houston in June of 2016 with the rest of the Aliens cast. He looked and sounded great. Absolutely hilarious, endearing and charming. He was a class act and a serious loss. I'm a huge Alien/Aliens fan - basically, the whole household is mourning. Damn sad.

Easily the best character actor of my generation. Such a wide range he played across his career.

Wife and I used to play the Kevin Bacon game. He was always the final link in Apollo 13. If you couldnt link to Bill you needed to watch more movies!

RIP Bill, and know that you will be missed. Thoughts and prayers for his family.

"Did you engage hostiles?"

"I vaporized hostiles!"

I don't think I've ever seen a movie he was in that I didn't enjoy his character.

As everyone has said, he's truly a busy, talented and under appreciated actor.

He was the father of The Thunderbirds team. And while a hokey movie, hey the original puppet cartoon wasn't Oscar winning stuff either , his performance was pure Bill Paxton.

Technically Bishop was shut down by Ripley. Bill Paxton is one of a kind.

I just worked with him a few months ago on his new show (the TV remake of) Training Day.  He seemed like a very nice person as far as that goes.  Too fast to live, Too young to die.

RIP, Bill.

I never cared much when a famous person passed. But for some reason I really care about losing him. It sucks. Really enjoyed his acting and one of the few Hollywood folks I would like to have a night on the town with. I'll remember you bill. RIP.

Aww man . I went through a weather nerd phase when I was a kid and watched Twister, like, twice a week for three years straight. Also, Predator 2 and Aliens.

So many great roles, but my favorite was, is, and always will be Severen, from "Near Dark".

I hate it when they ain't been shaved.

Interesting, Jenette Goldstein(Vasquez in Aliens, Janelle in Terminator 2) was in that movie too. And the biker looking dude they shoot in that scene(Robert Winley) was in Terminator 2 as well, hes the guy Arnold steals the clothes and bike from.

When a Hollywood celeb dies, it usually doesn't register on my give-a-shit-o-meter. But this one stings.

Bill was underrated and played in a ton of awesome movies. He seemed like a genuinely good guy too.

Interesting to note that Paxton started his career 'below-the-line' in 1974 as an 'On Set Dresser', which is a crew position in the Art Department....basically moving around furniture and such...on low budget Roger Corman movies.

Soon after he began to get acting gigs, but he continued to work as a crew member for 13 years....even after doing acting roles in such films as STRIPES (1981), THE LORDS OF DISCIPLINE (1983), STREETS OF FIRE (1984), THE TERMINATOR (1984), WEIRD SCIENCE (1985), COMMANDO (1985), and ALIENS (1986).

His last below-the-line crew position was in 1987 on the film FLICKS as assistant set dresser.

Humble beginnings.

"Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen."
Sigourney may have been the lead, but Paxton stole that whole movie in "Aliens".
"Frailty" and "One False Move" are severely underrated. Everyone should see them.
But perhaps his best work was on the "Hatfields and McCoys" tv miniseries. He was top shelf on that show.
Of all the scumballs in Hollywood, they take a true class act and someone I grew up with.
