I have been chewing Red Man for 45 years and black liquorice is good for you.

Its natures natural candy. Natural goodness that makes you a sexual tyrannosaurus.

Liquorice will put a protective coating on you digestive track and has many natural medicinal properties.

If you are feeling a little peakid I recommend a big plug of Redman, chew and enjoy the natural goodness, and that will rid your body of any parasites from drinking contaminated water.

That's candy of the 1800's. Who would even eat that today?

I don’t like black licorice by itself, but some of that European candy that’s salt coated black licorice I like for some odd reason.  It’s a crazy trip when you eat it but it super moderation (like once a month) a piece is kinda good in a weird way

I worked for the major licorice company for over a decade and one thing I noticed.

Everyone liked the strawberry flavor, but!

When it came to the black licorice or chocolate flavors those people liked either the black or chocolate but not both.

Pro tip, best black licorice is the Young & Smiley brand, made by the same company but their premium brand.

People who eat black licorice are unwashed heathens and should be banned from ARF and society in general. Fucking savages.

I feel the same way about people who don't return their carts at the grocery store.

I used to make 8 hour trips by car twice a week.  I went to the bulk candy section of the grocery store and bought several pounds of Good N Plenty to eat on the trips.  I later found out it is a real health hazard to eat a lot of it.

Black licorice is not my favorite, but the sugar coating with a taste of vanilla is great.

That’s some nasty shit. But if you like the taste of burnt motor oil and road tar then by all means, enjoy.

I also agree that eating Twizzlers is like eating plastic. Shit is also nasty.

For the record (as much as I LOVE sambuca and licorice) the flavor is actually mostly anise seed, and not licorice.

It's close enough for me.

1994

At the Olive Garden with other college friend for someone's birthday

I order Sambuca as an after-dinner drink

Out it comes, brandy snifter and three coffee beans

Everyone is curious about the drink with things floating in it

Pass it around the table for each to take a sniff

Six out of seven say "UGH!  YOU'RE GONNA DRINK THAT?"

Yes, every drop - or at least everything that doesn't stick to the glass

Licorice and anise taste nearly identical to me.

Red or black.  Both good for different reasons.

The red stuff isn't licorice.  It's just fruit-flavored candy.

Nothing wrong with that, of course.  But licorice is a flavor, not a shape.

My mom used to get it when we were kids but it wasn't the soft chewy stuff. It was a hard block and came with a little metal hammer to break off chunks. Kind of looked like anthracite almost. Had a funky taste and made me nauseous as a kid but she loved it.

That and those little candies call sen sen I think. Man they sucked but my moms and grand ma's generation seemed to love them.
