Looks good. I think that Ryan Gosling is the Deckard and Rachel's Son.

That looks pretty good.
October 6 is a weird release date. I would have thought Christmas or Summer for that kind of movie. |
|
Almost sounds like the original soundtrack from Vangelis -- or a soundalike version.
A sequel to my favorite movie... I'll have to check it out. |

Is the original available anywhere to watch?
Looks like Batista is in it too! |

Like many new "remake / sequels" that are coming out right now the trailer gives me hope, but I'm still cautious.
I do like a lot of the people involved with the movie though, so with some luck it won't Prometheus out on us. ... and with the resurgence of darkwave / synthpop lately the soundtrack could be pretty epic. |
|
When goslings character said he wanted to ask some question it was chilling. Very much looking forward to this.
|
|
Well I guess this solves that whole "Deckard is a replicant" theory once and for all.

|
At the end of the narrated version of the first film Deckard says that Tyrell told him that "Rachel was special, no termination date" .
What if she was able to reproduce also? Maybe Deckard is also special? The date 6-10-21 engraved in wood may be Rachels grave and they need her body to figure out how Tyrell made her. Thats what the fight is over. |

View Quote I also like that they don't seem to be doing a ret-con on the original "Los Angeles 2019" etc. And from a few glimpses in the trailer, they're sticking with the dates and just going with it. And I noticed that there might be some tongue in cheek references to the "Blade Runner curse", namely all the companies except for Coke in the lightboard and building hologram ads went tits-up in the years after the original movie's release. There's a shot of a Spinner/flying car going past a huge Atari advertising hologram... Details like that hint they were careful about how much they "update" the sequel. They aren't just going to make something all huge and blockbustery to try and tick off all the demographic checkboxes to make the studio happy with projected box office: "Market research shows explosions, a wise-cracking teenage sidekick, and talking animals are good for an extra 10%!" etc., and shit all over the original just to try and be "current". |

There are some interesting things here, especially that it takes place a good thirty years (I guess?) after the first one, and that Scott is the executive producer, but the trailer has me suspicious that this is a Hollywood cash-in 30-years-after-the-fact sequel. Still, Blade Runner is a classic for a reason and with Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott involved, I'll check it out.

I just did a little reading on Wikipedia on the various cuts of the first movie to refresh some things in my mind only to see that this movie is going to release exactly ten years and one day after Ridley released the "Final Cut" of the original Blade Runner (released on October 5th, 2007).

I see a Pris model is back as well. View Quote Edit: The trailer also kind of frames Jared Leto as a Tyrell styled character. It will be interesting to see if they resurrect one of the unused story elements from the first movie (that Batty didn't kill the real Tyrell, he instead killed a replicant clone of Tyrell while the real Tyrell was effectively immortal by cloning himself). |
|
Look at Gosling and Sean Young (Rachel) they even look alike. Also Leto's character says he can only make so many so if he could get the to make themselves Profit! Robin Wrights characters comments about walls separating kinds may allude the ability to reproduce naturally is what separates humans from Replicants. I am gonna guess she is anti Replicant baby making. Those chicks walking through the outdoor cafe and the one talking to Gosling look very Pris like too.

Replicants are not Androids they are organic.
Can they reproduce??? |

One of my favorite SciFi movies. I enjoy synth/electronic music and thought the original soundtrack was perfect to set the mood of the film.
I'm divided on a sequel. Hollywood normally takes a crap when they do a sequel or remake of a popular classic. One of my biggest pet peeves is when they don't carry over original actors. I totally get that it isn't always possible... so was very happy to see that Ford is playing Deckard. Would have been turned off to the whole thing if that hadn't happened. Very high hopes with very low expectations. |
|
I can't tell if this is a remake, a sequel, or one of the modern remake/sequel hybrid. If it's that, even if it looks good I don't think I'll watch. I'm so tired of recycled ideas. I understand all great stories are retellings of old ideas/plots, but I don't want to watch another Force Awakens/terminator and be disappointed. You'all can have your flashy graphics designed to woo the masses.

Well, this was certainly worth the 30 something years wait for the sequel!
