Quoted: Having a lot of close ties to the food manufacturing industry, I would say close to or just after Labor Day is when shit will hit the fan for food. Thats when all of the early crops will be getting distributed, and start hitting the shelves with the prices increases in fuel and fertilizer from the last 5-6 weeks. And then you take into account the drought in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska is seeing, hail storm wiping out a lot of crops in Nebraska. 42,000lbs of Turkey Red wheat berries went from $50k to $75k overnight recently. Cleaning went from $1200 to $2800, and the trucking went from $2200 to $5200. View Quote I would tend to believe this, along with October being the month people start to get home heating oil. |

Quoted: If it takes 18 months for this to happen I will be amazed. We are already hitting pretty bad fuel prices, layoffs have started, retail has taken a hit and we know the fertilizer and weed killer price increases are going to hit the shelves soon in crop prices/shortages. I don't think it takes 18 months from early indications to shitstorm. I would take the other side of the bet and say mid September. View Quote I don't know maybe, layoffs have started but nothing major nation wide. We will see a lot of small businesses layoff workers . Large companies is going to be massive layoffs. Our government will call it a recession but we will reach 1930 depression numbers . It's going to be real bad with a lot of people out of work who bought new homes new cars etc |

Based on everything that's going on now, I have a feeling what's coming is going to be far worse than people realize, or believe. All you have to do is look around to see how the pieces are already in place for some awful shit to go down. It doesn't help that the democrats are deliberately trying to create anarchy and chaos in every sector of American life. None of this is happening by accident. It's all part of a plan to create so much suffering that we will all beg for the Great Reset and The Party to save us with socialism. It's easy to be a naysayer because we haven't seen the hard stuff yet. There are signs and portents of bad things to come, but it's easily dismissed as rumor and conjecture because it's not in our faces yet.
I hope even the naysayers are doing some basic preps. If things are even half as bad as some of the predictions suggest, they are going to be happy to have them. |

Crap is already hitting the fan. It will probably get worse but nobody is going to starve.

The perfect storm has already come together. On top of rising fuel prices, fuel shortages, and transportation industry disruptions, fertilizer shortages have driven costs up 30% this year, on top of 80% last year. Also, wheat is not getting out of Ukraine and many countries have now banned the export of crops to shore up their own supply and to stall rising prices. All of this is happening admist a looming recession.
"Countries banning food exports Ukraine: Battling Russia’s offensive, Ukraine closed down its ports early in the war. It then announced that it would be banning export of rye, barley, buckwheat, millet, sugar, salt, and meat and introduced export licenses for wheat, corn and sunflower oil. The ban on exports is effective till 31 December 2022. Ukraine’s decision to ban food exports has threatened the food supply and livelihoods of people in Europe, Africa and Asia who rely on the vast, fertile farmlands of the Black Sea region — known as the “breadbasket of the world”. Russia: In March, the Vladimir Putin-led country announced a ban on exports of sunflower seeds till 31 August. Russia and Ukraine are the world’s largest producers, accounting for 73 per cent of the global supply of sunflower oil, according to the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), a non-profit organisation based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Russia also imposed a 700,000-ton export quota on sunflower meal and that will run to 31 August. The country also suspended exports of wheat, meslin, rye, barley and corn until 30 June in a move to secure its home market with enough food. Argentina: Argentina capped the volume of corn and wheat that could be exported in a bid to head off domestic grains shortages and tamp down rising food values in the country. The decision sent US corn prices to their highest in six-and-a-half years, reported Reuters. Egypt: On 12 March, Egypt said it was banning exports of all kinds of vegetable oil and corn for three months. The country also announced that it was banning exports of lentils, pasta, wheat, flour and fava beans for three months. Iran: Iran has indefinitely banned the export of potatoes, onions, tomatoes and eggplant. Iranian deputy minister of agriculture Jihad Abbas Askarzadeh in a letter said, “As a result of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, a number of incidents have taken place in world markets, and the demand for some agricultural products in world markets has increased. At the same time, import duties on agricultural products in neighbouring countries have also been reduced. In addition, there is a need to regulate prices in the domestic market of Iran.” Serbia: The European country has restricted the quantities of wheat, corn, flour and cooking oil slated for export till the end of this year. Turkey: The Recep Tayyip Erdogan-led country has put a ban on a variety of grain products as well as on beef, mutton, goat meat and butter. These restrictions will continue until 31 December. Indonesia: Indonesia, the world's top palm oil producer, had imposed an export ban on several palm oil based products late April in an attempt to secure domestic supply and bring down soaring prices. The move had a cascading effect, making global vegetable oil prices soar across the board." https://www.firstpost.com/business/india-bans-wheat-export-from-argentina-to-turkey-countries-that-have-stopped-overseas-food-trade-10698441.html |

Quoted: Honestly, I am 42 and have been hearing this for the past 25 years. View Quote So it can never happen? Almost all the economic predicts the last year have come true. Inflation was going to skyrocket, interest rates were going up, recession is the only way to stop it, gas will be $5 a gallon...etc. It was only a few months ago that #BareShelvesBiden was trending after shortages of things for 2 years. Now people in this thread act like that is completely impossible for there to be food shortages. The financial people warning of $5 gas started talking about $6 gas a month ago. Fertilizer and fuel costs have been up all year, the cost won't be reflected in food prices until they start harvesting. Stores and factories can't get enough people to work unless they pay a lot more, those costs aren't coming down. Russia screwed Ukraine's wheat production and many experts are saying there will be a world wide shortage of wheat. Not sure on the drought and crop damage in the US, some of that happens every year, but if there is more this year then that puts pressure on prices. Major disasters aren't typically just one bad thing that happens, it is a collection and series of little things that build up until it creates a big problem. We have had a series of broad ranging events happen that have set the stage. Maybe nothing happens or maybe the system fails just like it did with the baby formula. |

The American people elected the Democrats in Congress. The Democrats stole the Presidential election. Now we have a Democrat Congress, Senate, and President all of which support socialism. I guess we are going to find out what socialism is really like.
The midterms look like there will be a blood bath for the Democrats, but we will still be stuck with Joe Biden and his dimwit Vice President. I think the real challenge will be the RINOs in the Senate and Congress. Our only hope is for the Republicans to have a veto proof majority or a few Democrats voting with the Republicans to push through legislation to nullify Biden’s executive orders. The trick will be to put a death nail in the RINOs and keep a strong majority in both house of Congress while electing a strong President like Trump or DeSantos. The chances are slim to none of getting this done. It will take a deep recession or even a depression to get the political momentum to save the country. |

Incrementally it doesn’t seem bad; so when we are standing in a world of shit that we slowly eased into we are all like, “eh, just a little worse than two weeks ago”.
I don’t ever remember store shelves being devoid of anything short of a local panic that was weather related or something. Allowing those in charge to turn this into the new normal is the crime in which we are all guilty. |
