I’m a little late to the party on this one, but the Gen 5 Glock 26 is the perfect carry gun IMO. I know the 43X is thinner, but the 26 is shorter. The ability of the 26 to accept the big stick mags is also pretty appealing in this crazy year of 2020. I know some of you guys carry a 19 with RMR, weaponlight & suppressor AIWB somehow & that’s fine. That said, I’m convinced that the 26 is pretty much the Goldilocks of carry guns, perfect combination of size + firepower. I don’t know why I waited so long.

You’re not wrong.
In order of preference: 26,43,Taurus 85 in pocket holster for concealed. 17 for OC |
|
The 19 conceals better for me.
The longer slide pushes the grip into me. The 26 printed like crazy for me. |
|

It's been a good option for many years. Personal preference rules when it comes to carry guns.

Glock, Perfect Carry Gun. Pick one.
Hard to claim Perfection when you have five generations and counting. |

View Quote Glock doesn't change and people complain they aren't keeping up with consumer demand. Glock changes in response to market forces and people make snarky jokes about five generations of perfection. What's next - angry posts that Aimpoint's "always ready, always on" slogan is BS because at some point you'll need to change the batteries? |

I got to handle one once, came to the same conclusion- it's on my list to buy. I have big hands and it still works for me

Quoted: You missed it by "THAT much"... S&W M&P 2.0 Subcompact... Better Carry Gun. Holds 12+1 in same package size, plus can use the 15 or 17 round compact or standard 9mm M&P magazines. https://news.guns.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/SW-FEAT.jpg View Quote But does it take factory 33-rounders? |

43X with 15rd mag from Shield Arms. Same size as the stock 10rd mag, but with the same capacity as a Glock 19. Beat that.
Btw, longer mags are available for the 43, including a 50rd drum by ProMag. |
|
No accessory rail for a light.
A P80 SC frame with a RMR cut slide would be my preference with a TLR-7 |
|
The best thing about them is the Glock 19 mag makes a perfect extended/pinky rest mag.

I carried a 27 for years. First time I shot a 19 I switched. Then I switched most recently to a 34. I find it nearly as easy to conceal a 34 as I do to conceal a 27. I don't really like the 26/27 all that much, the grip length is just too short.

Quoted: Glock, Perfect Carry Gun. Pick one. Hard to claim Perfection when you have five generations and counting. View Quote Eh, I own plenty of other good pistols including a fine Wilson Combat. I’ve always hated the finger grooves, so the Gen 5 made a difference for me personally. And if I ever lose this pistol for some reason it won’t break my heart. |

I've been carrying a G26 Gen 4 for several years. I always carry it with the 12 round mag though, which makes it very close in size to the G19. As such, I may move to a G19 MOS in the near future.
That being said, the G26 will never be fully retired from my carry rotation. I've put around thousands of rounds through the G26 (numerous brands, numerous bullet weights) and it has never missed a beat. |

I cannot agree... because my hands are too large to use the g26. Besides, Mrs. Wildebeest carries the g26 I bought.
I prefer the g19 gen 3. Works great with my ham fists. |
|
In the peak of summer, while wearing shorts, the 43 is easiest to carry. After that I prefer the 19/23. Just could never warm up to the two finger grip on the 26.
Enjoy your 26. |
|
I like the way it conceals. But it’s harder to shoot than my glock 19. So I usually just carry my glock 19.
|
|
It’s been around since 1994 so that’s what you call track record.
Love the versatility. 10 round mag, no problem. Need a little more fire power and grip, 12 rounder. Want the capacity of the G19, grab a G19 mag and a mag sleeve. Heck throw a 30 round mag in the truck just in case it gets rowdy out there. Should be in the hall of fame of carry pistols. |
|
FP does not NI, at least for me. I find the 26 too small to shoot well while not offering that much of a smaller profile than the G19.

I agree. I appendix carry it and it’s so much easier than even a 19. With a TLR6 it’s a good compromise. On duty it’s a back up gun, off duty it’s my primary carry. Now if I could just get it to fit in my pocket with an RMR.

View Quote You're only one number off. 27 is the MFN perfect carry weapon. Pearce +2 mag bases and it's all you need. Forget those fancy racegun toys. For EDC stick with the basics. .40SW>9mm when you're up close and ugly. Now put that 26 in an ankle rig as a backup and you are perfectly armed for a day at the track and a night at the opera. |

26 on my hip now.
I go back and forth between a 19 and 26. They cover everything for me. |
|

That was before the 43X which now has a higher capacity and thinner profile. I own both.

Of course, I also used to shit in my diapers. G43 was the ticket for me until the P365 came along. Now it's that...until something better comes along. I'll always be open to something better...until they make my dreams come true - something about the size of a G42 that holds 15rds of 10mm. |
|
I'm thinking of offering my Gen 2 19 for a Gen 3 26. I'm not giving up maga-reloads and I can pocket the 26.
|
|
Larger framed guns make my pants sag like a vanilla gangsta. G26 fits me good. Wearing one now.
|
|
Add the Pearce pinky extension to Glock 26 or 27 mags for perfection.

I like both the 26 and the 19. I shoot both very well and carry both with boring regularity. I was hoping the 43X with SA mags was going to be perfect, but I still dont trust the mags or mag catch yet. When SA comes out with a steel mag catch my carry choice may then consist of the 26, 19 and 43X. Also, I buy G17 mags like a bum buys MD2020.

Goldilocks= P365 with 12 round mag for EDC. Not too big, not too small, not too heavy and mine is accurate and reliable.
That said, the G26 is also great. 43x & G48 awesome. The S&W Shields are excellent. Bottom line is we have some really great choices for EDC. There is something for everyone, that is, if you can find something in stock now |
